Broken stereo + $20 walmart car deck + 12 volt power supply and PRESTO! (has a remote now too)
I’d never thought a boombox could be upgraded.
What’s next? Gramophone + iPod = Gramopod?
As in, attaching the earphone to the needle ?
So.. It’s probably just me; but I much enjoyed that stereo before it was destroyed by this person.
Just an observation.
Lol, it’s actually an improvement. I used to use the tape deck in this thing back in the eighties. I can’t believe it’s still around and since tapes aren’t I think it was worth it. Great job dad
Hey. NIce craftsmanship. Fits in a DIN hole and sucks less than the 1988 Hyundai Pony deck that used to be there. Also it blocks all the dummy lights blinking on the dashboard. CHECK ENGINE! CHECK ENGINE!
I think you completely missed the point. It’s not a fix for his car stereo, it’s a fix for his boombox. He carries it around and uses it like the boombox it started out as.
Well, we do use a semi-homebrew radio made of a car stereo, custom cheap wood case, with built-in speakers (with external connection) and power supply. Quite modular, easy to repair/modify/improve (swap the head unit
).
Just what we want. Made to fit existing (small) space, budget and needs nicely.
