seems like that would have been a lot easier just to fake it than to actually take the time to set all that up…

  4. Jim Beecher says:

There are a pile of Steven Andersons out there who are musicians. I cannot track this guy down. Does anyone know how to get to this particular music geek’s website/channel and if he has albums out?

    Thanks!

  12. electronics guy says:

first – triggering samples is not “synthesis”
second – totally fake based on seeing him “solder” wires to the main board of the Panasonic SV-3700 DAT recorder.

  13. anodean says:

And he can cook. This one definitely gets to reproduce.

  14. LarsH says:

Yeah, electronics don’t work like that. Fake, fake, fake.

      Yes.
      Yes, they do.
There’s a billion types of proximity sensors, and while “amplified static electricity” doesn’t quite fit the bill, what is seen in the video is certainly possible.
Depending on the sensor, you can take the output and put it directly into an amplifier and get noise. It seems what he’s done however, is take that and modulate it to a certain pitch. For the bowls, anyway.
The cheese grater and whisk, on the other hand, there is one wire connected to it, and I would presume he’s wearing a wire on his other wrist. Measuring the resistance between the two could yield some really interesting numbers that translate into cool sounds.

tl;dr it’s completely possible, but this video isn’t necessarily legit.

The point of the video isn’t to be accurate, it’s meant to provide cool visuals for an awesome song.
Do you think every other music video is completely real?
Do you run around screaming FAKE at Lady GaGa videos?

Besides, who gives a f**k. This guy gets _paid_ to write music like this. What have you done with your life?
Trolling on the internet is an incredibly pitiful existence compared to making a living off something you love.

  15. smith says:

way to much effort for a fake , troll on feel bad for your life

  16. hawkechik says:

All right, which one of you wits remarked “Needs more cheesegrater” on the Youtube remarks? I spit coffee all over my keyboard!

  17. kyle says:

    This entire setup is bulls**t.

  18. Sarge says:

That seems like a lot of trouble and a waste of a lot of perfectly good kich to achieve what any decent laptop or keyboard could already do. Still, It’s nice that he’s got a hobby.
