Instructables user PDRWLSN created this pocket-sized flame thrower not just because it’s freaking awesome, but as a way to start a quick fire when you’re camping and only have access to wet wood. The gun uses materials readily available at any hardware store with butane lighter fluid as a fuel source and a BBQ ignition switch as a trigger. Below is a video showing the machine failing to melt snow. If any of you are crazy enough to try this, please, be safe.

Italian professor Santorio Santoria (also known as Sanctorus, Santorii or Sanctorius of Padua) spent a good portion of his life dedicated to the body and its mysteries. As a physician he was immensely interested in the digestive system and all the junk we cram down our throats. But for a brief period in the 16th century he took his craft to a weirdly unsanitary place, in the name of science.
