Forget extreme ironing, extreme jaccuzzing is what all the cool kids are doing these days. Back in 2001, two Swiss brothers kludged together a homemade jaccuzzi (added “c” for legal purposes) with a tarp, pallets, rope and a homemade water heater and hung out in it on the side of a mountain.
After years of tinkering and perfecting their design, they formed an official association and began to bring their jaccuzzis to environments where a good hot soaking had never taken place. In what is by far their craziest mission, the group hung one of their creations 160m below Gueuroz bridge in western Switzerland. Check the pictures below to see how they managed this insane feat.
- Gathering materials
- Filling the tub
- Catch please!
- Caught.
- Building the walls
- It’s coming together
- Lowering the testers
- Almost party time…
- Party time!
- Jaccuzzi champagne is the best champagne
- Unfortunately, the party must come to an end

Runner-ups for the Darwin Awards…
It ain’t a real hot-tub party yet if nobody’s naked…
I thought you had to be an American to do anything this crazy.
This is not the average amount of safety equipment found in posts on this site. I think they fixed it quite nicely, actually.
Actually it looked quite safe – hard hats, safety cables, if it all fell apart the worst they would have experienced is hanging by their cable looking embarrassed
I, for one, would not be embarrassed at all. Hanging by a cable while the jacuzzi hurls down several hundred feet, must be quite an exciting experience!

Everything falling apart (except you and your maties) is definitely the preferred ending.
this should be in win section
Is a helmet really going to do you much good if you fall from that kind of height?
It also looks pretty exhausting to make the ascent afterwards.
My motto is, “Never do anything you wouldn’t want to have to explain to the paramedics” … and I would not want to have to explain why I was wearing a parachute in a jacuzzi.
ropes could get wrapped around someones neck depending on how it broke. that is a lot of weight suspended like that, water and people.
the helmets are to protect heads hitting other heads or something else. the rope is to protect from falling. if the rope breaks, no helmet would protect.
