And I thought losing the battery door on my remote was a pain in the ass.

About thirty years ago my TI programmable calculator met a wall at forty miles per hour. The case shattered. The display was still on. So I taped the battery in place and used the thing for another fifteen years. Memorizing keys is no biggy.
My remote is in the same condition, only I use a swiss army knife to short the “buttons”, but at least they are all labelled on the PCB.
It takes years to memorise the positions of 20 buttons?
