I’m not so sure that this is an actual truck inside a truck. From the looks, it could be a very unique kind of advertisement. I’ve seen similar trucks in the past that look everything from being transparent, to one that looks like its load is falling out. The latter used a simple plastic shell on the outside to do this.
They have the top side rail of the dump body right up against the doorway header of the van -
Unless that was a special Lowboy dump truck built for use in a mine, the front header of the dump body and the truck cab would be a good foot higher than that, if not two.
Why is this hard to believe? Heavy equipment trucks aren’t built for high speed or long transport, so they need to be trucked themselves. In addition, these trucks are so large few transport trucks can carry them effectively. I would assume that having all wheels on the trailer platform is sufficient for safe travel even if the rear door (of no real consequence in this situation) isn’t closed.
Yes! Where is the driver? Did he beam out? Is he still in the cab of the dumper?
Also? Unless that thing is carrying a bed full of helium there is no way the front of the container is still on the road. (yes, I know it can’t be full of helium)
This looks like it was taken in Germany and as a german I can safely say that putting a prop like that on the back of your truck would make you get your sh*t slapped from left to right by the cops. I don’t see why anyone would transport a truck or trailer inside another trailer with the back sticking out though because it’s just as illegal unless you’ve been through tons of papers and regulations for special loads in which case you would need several beacon lights and a safety vehicle following you, neither of which I see in that picture. In any case this is as nonsensical as it is illegal. That it all I have to say.
this is a common sight on the a2 towards poland. they often take off the driver’s cabin and reassemble it at the destination. often a former MAN lorry is transformed into a Scania, DAF of Volvo…
as long as the load is secured, it can even reach outside the carrying trailer, that’s why they put that red-white reflector there.
Nah, this is common. It’s how truckers avoid the Highway Patrol when being chased for speeding infractions. Didn’t anyone see Smokey and the Bandit 37?
Thats a sheetliner, undo the straps along the bottom and that whole side slides up to one end, same on the other side. With a suitable ramp it would be possible to drive that dumper into that trailer and for the driver to exit before closing the sheets. (and hopefully stropping the stuck to the trailer)
The sheets show where they are pushing on the truck and those lines look about right so im fairly sure this is not an edit, also the suspension looks right for the load.
Headroom for the cab doesent mean much as i have seen plent of cabs where the roof of the cab is level with, or lower then the top of the rear section.
Incidentally turbo, that truck hanging out the back will still probably make its overall length under 18.75m or 61.5 ft and the gross weight is certainly under 60 tons meaning that it its well outside the stgo/haso classes in the uk so would not need an escort or special paperwork, i beleive the german classes are similar.
these moves arent too wise, and will not go down well with the police if anything goes wrong.
The only way this would be an effective advertisement would be for something else to reference what’s going on to make the idea ‘click’ for the viewer. Most times, this would be a clever slogan. Maybe something to the effect of ‘we can carry anything’ or something a bit more creative.
So, if anyone can read that text on the side, I believe that our question of whether this is a clever ad could be answered.
hm…
german license plate,
german website on the side of the truck,
driving on the right side,
blue traffic sign in the background, just like they are used on german autobahn…
Have you got a higher resolution version of the image than me? Because I can tell it’s an EU license plate, but can’t make out whether it’s German or not.
Anyway.
License plate proves where the truck was licensed, not where it is.
Website proves what company owns it, not where it is.
Both lanes are going forwards, and since the blue sign has a truck on it, it could simply be directing trucks to get into the right hand land and other traffic into the left.
Blue traffic signs are used in the UK, and a ton of other places across the EU.
Not really the most conclusive evidence ever, on balance.
I don’t have a hi-res version of this, but I have a pair of perfectly good hi-res eyes. I can see that it’s got German plates, I can just about make out the dual German “road licence paid for”-stickers on the plates, and I can see that the url has “.de” at the end of it.
It also looks like the blue Autobahn-roadsigns, as someone mentioned earlier.
Intrucktion?
I think it’d be “truckception”
turtrucken?
FTMFW!
But they called their last one of these “truckception”.
Go take some shots on US-59 in Texas going into Laredo sometime. This is nothin’.
No kidding. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen cars sticking out the back of Uhaul trucks.
How did they manage to do that. Isn’t it easier to drive the one that is being carried? I’ll never get ‘logistics’ tho…
Cheaper to pay one driver to deliver the vehicle and make his own way back home than to have two vehicles.

I call P-Shop….
Me, too.
This is in Germany! Won’t believe it…
Advertising Prop or Photoshop.

Or it could just be a trailer?
No, can’t be a trailer. They have different backlights and no hook where you can lock another trailer.
saw such a truck-on-truck transport last thursday, driving motorway to frankfurt airport
A new Transformer is born.
So, Decepticon “ground pounders” hit the ground rolling do they? Looks like Motormaster was indiscreet with a Constructicon.
Awwww… cuteness overload!
Mommy truck is pregnant. She is gonna have baaaabieeees!

It’s hard to believe because:
(A) The fit is perfect
(B) The safety factor is negligible
(C) Trucks that carry other trucks are typically flatbeds, not moving vans.
and finally:
(D) The lighting of the dump-truck looks slightly brighter than the rest of the picture.
Anybody want to add any other reasons?
Yes maybe, (E) If the truck was drove up into the truck, how did the person get out of the inside truck?
Never mind I see the sides roll up on the side of the truck.
Yes! Where is the driver? Did he beam out? Is he still in the cab of the dumper?

tl;dr
i saw the same thing (wasnt a dump truck, tho) today on the A1.
perfectly legal as long as you properly secure the load

jon’s right. have any of the rest of you driven a truck? I didn’t think so.
Heavy equipment that size is hauled on a low bed open trailer, not a container truck. And yes, I have driven a truck.
Note that the sides of the trailer roll up? The dump truck was winched in, not driving. It’s likely there’s another one in front of it.
Yo dawg, we heard you like trucks, so we put a truck in your truck so you can truck while you truck!
I already saw this done on “Knight Rider” and “Mythbusters” he, he.
Puts the Truck in Truckload.

Thank you
If this is genuine, he’ll have a bit of trouble at the next weigh-bridge.
The system is a bit different in Germany. But the police might stop him because his load is too long. They will also check the weight in this case.
A new cheap remake of Knight Rider!
Turbo is right!
Not sure why everyone thinks it’s in Germany? Looks like a typical English dual carriageway to me – all the trucks in the outside lane as usual.
hm…
german license plate,
german website on the side of the truck,
driving on the right side,
blue traffic sign in the background, just like they are used on german autobahn…
Right!
And by the way: the dump truck doesn’t have a license plate and most probably not a drivers cab and can’t be driven legally.

Yo Dawg
I herd u like trucks, so we put a truck in yo truck so you can truck while you truck
how did the guy that drove it in get out.
lol been there, done that. I even know this driver.
