Not-A-Kludge: Best. Dad. Ever.

white trash repairs - Not-A-Kludge: Best. Dad. Ever.

I’m grown up and I still want this custom bedroom more than anything in the world. Ship, bridge, slide and wheel. I had none of these in my bedroom as a child.

  1. Jay says:

Can’t begin to guess how much this cost. Guess that makes me a lousy dad; I only had a treehouse built.

    • Adoniller says:

You “had” a treehouse built? Who hires someone to build a treehouse? You’re supposed to give your kid a hammer, some nails, a few scraps of plywood, a couple 2x4s, and some rope, and make them build their own treehouse.

  2. Whoa Boy! says:

Who’s Da Man? That dad* is Da Man!

    *and mom

  3. sweffymo says:

    This is amazing.

  4. Jess says:

    this is increidble

  5. Unknown says:

    Spoiled kid.

  6. Awesome craftsmanship! Great idea! And you’ve just guaranteed that your kid is going to grow up with an attitude of entitlement and end up being a junkie as a career petty thief.

    • Vince says:

Yea, I’m wondering if that did more harm than good in the long term.

      • Paul-G says:

It all depends on the quality of the parents.
At times we spoiled our kids rotten BUT they also had to learn the value of the money in their pocket. It is a difficult balancing act that, if you get it right, can turn out some kids that turn into adults to be proud of.

      • LISA says:

        Thats what im thinking

        • Tim says:

simply the act of building such a thing does not doom a child to a life a petty theft. Who’s to say that it’s for a kid anyway, (though I agree that it is) but I’d do something like that just for the gratification. Though, with my skill set it’d be far less quality.

          • GammaPaladin says:

Buying your kids things doesn’t spoil them. Buying them things as a way of bribing them into forgiving you for your lack of interest, time, and attention *does*.

It requires that combination of factors (Although if you’re not giving your kids interest, time, and attention, *not* buying them crap won’t prevent them being messed up).

And anyway who says the dad *bought* this? They could be a poor family with a really handy dad who *built* it.

  7. Stfan says:

I wish I had a daddy who loved me

  8. kilovolt says:

    Rayman!

  9. Erin says:

Great custom work. The slide is not part of the pirate ship but part of a different project: http://www.kuhldesignbuild.com/portfolio/other.php

  10. Bob-H says:

Somehow, sending the kids to their room isn’t punishment anymore.

  11. Barry says:

    I want a pirate bedroom!!!!!!!

  12. P.D says:

Suddenly, I feel a little less loved by my parents…

  13. oddball says:

Looks like something “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” would do.

  14. MaLV says:

He he, I bet the kid turns into a “certain type of pirate” when he’s older.

  15. splatman says:

Finding kids that have this kind of bedroom is easy; just listen for those that go AAAAARRRRGGGG!! like a pirate, and not like a kid pretending to be one.

  16. daligre2 says:

Hello everyone….OMG ,My friend Rachal, a 33 yrs lady, has ann’ounced her w’edding with an excellent man. It’s amazing, she said she just posted her prof ile on an inte’rr’cial d’ating s’ite called~ Bl ac’kw hiteC u’pid / Co m ~ – and received his chat invitations a few days later. Then, everything went so well that I can’t believe it’s true! Every lo’ve st’ory will unfold on it’s own—Awesome craftsmanship! Great idea!

  17. Rehcsif says:

I bet you dollars to donuts that “dad” didn’t build this. He paid for it. Probably to compensate for never being at home since he’s working to pay for like that.

OK I’m just jealous – both because I didn’t have one as a kid and I can’t afford one (nor a home with ceilings large enough to install it) for my kids now.

  18. JosephineJoseph says:

There is even a brig for the kid to lock a princess (or a bratty sister) in!

  19. Eugene says:

    looks Cool!

I think I`ll do smthng like that for (and of course with) my kids in their time.

  20. Bob says:

Way to go, Failblog. Covering a story that’s months old.

(Incidentally, dad didn’t build the thing. He paid a ton of money to a contractor to build it.)

  21. wilsonpd64 says:

It will be very cool until the kid is about 12-13…then, not so much.

  22. lennyrebel says:

    This is positively beautiful. WOW!

  23. Megan says:

Dad or a very single bachelor?

  24. Eh says:

I’m so jelly…I am so very, very jelly…
    WANT!!!

  25. JosephineJoseph says:

    .

  26. super fix says:

WOW that is SWEEEEEET, only one thing…. no cannons?

  27. says:

Awesome, but the perspective is messing with my brain… x.x

  28. Neal Hunter Hyde says:

That’s aMAHzing! Looks like someone’s dad is a theatrical set designer!!!
As for a room like this turning a child spoiled – I doubt it. Looks to me that the child’s parents are encouraging and nurturing creativity, uniqueness and imagination (far beats just buying a child tons of video game equipment- which just encourages poor social skills, laziness and violent tendencies).

    • Evo says:

What u don’t see is the 40 inch hd tv and xbox 360 that went into it 3 days later.

    • Rada says:

Yes Sir! Those video games are exactly why I am a graphic designer; with 4 years and a degree under my belt. Darn those video games raised me too well, darn them I say!

  29. just another person commenting on how much you FAILED says:

    huh…

a lot of time + a hell lot of money = that

  30. JosephineJoseph says:

This is a very unusual bedroom being over 2 stories tall
