The mob has spoken! I tried something new the other day and asked you wonderful fixers what you wanted to read about this week. My inbox is usually overwhelmed with great suggestions for Historical Thursdays, and the poll helped me decide which way to steer it this week. And what fits better into a mumbo jumbo conspiracy post than one of the most “haunted” houses in the world?
In 1862 a woman named Sarah Lockwood Pardee married William Wirt Winchester, treasurer of the Winchester Arms Company and heir to the family’s fortune. After the death of their only child, Sarah fell into a deep depression. The couple didn’t have any more children, and Sarah became a widow when William died of tuberculosis in 1881. Distraught over the deaths, she sought out a medium to help make sense of her life.
