Well that’s one way to do it I suppose…

  2. kate says:

    i want one

    • Kat says:

That was my first reaction too.

I don’t think I would try to heal a guild raid to kill the Lich King while riding, but it could make my attempts to farm cute minipets more productive!

  3. Raichu says:

I donno call me wierd but this seems like a win..

  4. Bob says:

Watching tv while on a treadmill/cycle is fine but a computer isnt?

  5. showler says:

Wimp. I have a laptop stand mounted on my treadmill and am in the process of adding a trackball holder on the grip.

If I add a keyboard tray I’m having it declared a home office.

  6. Raichu says:

Oh, he’s playing World of Warcraft, thats FAIL right there.

  7. Shmi says:

That’s a hell of a good idea. Cycling is just boring. Playing WoW AND cycling is way more effective.

  8. PotatoEngineer says:

The scary part is that there’s a company that makes things JUST LIKE THIS. I have one. It may have been rotting in a closet for the past year, but I have one! http://www.gamercize.net/

  9. Interesting way… but AI could bring us even more amazing ways of leveling up, for example, mind expansion beyond body death (http://www.eternity20.net)

  10. Malyndia says:

Best part about this: They’re playing World of Warcraft as they cycle. That’s some kind of geek dedication!

  11. Veronika says:

No more waiting for that last tank before ready to go, because said tank has to “exercise”. Win!

  12. hamsterwheeling says:

Now just for added sadistic realism, add generator to bike/treadmill and power laptop off of it. ‘Course you die a lot since your virtual character suddenly can’t run tirelessly all those miles to the next post.

    • PlutoniumBoss says:

It actually wouldn’t be that bad. When you stop pedaling, the laptop just draws from the battery. You just have to pedal enough to keep a useful charge up, you can take breaks from pedaling if you have enough battery power.

    • Rob73 says:

It would be epic if in order to move he had to pedal and if he pedaled faster he would run

  13. Ray says:

Haha this is only useful if he connects the battery to it.

  14. Professor says:

I wonder how he’s handling the patch changes. They nerfed cycling big time.

  15. Lewis128 says:

The question is: Is the laptop powered by the stationary bike? (If you stop pedaling, the laptop loses power, therefore you must continue to pedal until you want to shut it down.)

    • Morgan423 says:

Seriously! That’s really the only way it’ll work.

*In raid for two hours, work your way carefully to the final end boss*

*Boss is on ropes, in seconds you will get a super-rare drop for you last several hours of effort*

*In your concentration you forget to maintain your pedalling, game and computer shut off*

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  16. CaptainCurran says:

i’ve seen a variant of this. a treadmill hooked to the laptop and as you run on the tread mill, you’re controlling how fast your character in WoW runs.

    • ravageritual says:

There is no variable speed running outside of buffs/abilities in WoW. You might be thinking of lag.

      • Siirenias says:

Now, that would be a great motivator. The more calories you burn, the less lag you have.

      • dfenstrate says:

They varied the length of time the ‘walk’ key was depressed depending on how fast you ran on the treadmill. So if you did 1 mph, it pressed ‘walk’ for only 1/8 of each second, and if you did 8 mph, it pressed ‘walk’ for 8/8 of each second (all the time.)
So if weren’t going full speed, the movement was kind of jerky, but that’s about how it worked.

  17. Jesster says:

    I want one….

  18. maxim says:

I tried this, but I tended to lose focus as I concentrated on the game and slowed down my pedaling. Having the pedaling linked to some game parameter, as others have suggested, is the way to go. I’m more of an elliptical man, though.

  19. Octavio says:

That laptop just sucks… A friend of mine got it and it’s trash by 5 motnhs of having it… Its a dell inspiron I think

  20. Takis says:

Thats the World Of Warcraft that you play!Yea-Ye-Yeah!

  21. hahaha I must set that kinda thing up too!

  22. tracylee says:

I have the same treadmill and when I first got it, got an iFit subscription to connect it to. I should have taken a picture of the contraption I set up at the time to get the laptop to stay up on the windowsill in front of the treadmill! It was truly a kludge.

  23. Osakhomen says:

Oh cool that’s a cool idea… but instead I would want to watch movies online or something.

  24. highlet says:

Alright, lets get this guy involved in the space program. Great idea haha

  25. Eleandieal says:

EPIC. that is so funny. i want to do something like that. i was trying to hook up something like that with a treadmill..but no treadmill =\

  26. Tim says:

Gotta rig it up so that if u stop cycling it stops the power or something XD

  27. TeslaCoilsAndKittehsAreEPIC says:

Lets attach a dynamo to the laptop from the cycling machine, and a toilet to the seat, and have a minifride stashed with energy drinks and carbs.

  28. just another person commenting on how much you FAILED says:

weird…do you think you can pull it off?

    XD
