Copy & paste this:

If it were ultra-realism, wouldn’t he be virtually pulled over for having an open container in the half-car?
They have BMW’s in America too, you know.
omg dude

I’m from germany and being drunk while driving is strictly forbidden
And also Beck’s beer tastes like a piece of s**t – try some Veldensteiner , Zirndorfer or Brauerei Simon etc…
Sorry to be nit-picky: You are right that drunk-driving is forbidden – but you ARE allowed to drink alcohol while driving in Germany… as long as you stay below the legal alcohol limit (plus some lesser restrictions, like being over 21 etc.)
I’ll admit, however, that local breweries’ producta are quite often superior to the large corporations’ beers
The only country you need to be over 21 to drink is in the U.S.
Argl, more confusion…
Yes, you can legally consume any alcohol from being 18 years old in Germany (beer even with 16).
You are just not allowed to drink alcohol while driving until you are 21 years old.
Is it drinking and driving if you’re not really going anywhere?
You have a higher risk of crashing your computer.
Drinking and driving simulators kill processes.
…But only the weak ones!
In many places, including the People’s Republic of Taxachusetts (Massachusetts), they don’t call it driving drunk any more.
They call it “Operating Under the Influence” Which includes debilitating substances ad situations of any type.
And “Operating” means even just having the keys in the ignition.
- Drunk, and listening to your (parked) car radio? Arrested!
- Drunk, and running the engine so you don’t freeze to death in Jauary? Arrested!
WIN!
Awesome! Can I get it in a right-hand-drive version please?
Sure you can! Just go to a local wrecking yard and chop out that piece of a RHD car that got smacked on the left side…
(Welding it into a cohesive unit and mounting on big casters to get it into your gaming room not included. As are the paintwork, and the electrical mods to make all the instruments work, or the hookup to the air conditioning ducts, or the…)
Want.
I’ve been a racing sim buff for years and have DREAMED of doing something like this. Even have my eye on an old racing seat we currently have rigged as a barstool in the garage.
If I’m wrong for wanting one, I don’t want to be right.
WIN! WIN WIN WIN! WIIIIN!
want
OMG, POOOR e30 Eta. But at least it won’t have anymore timing belt issues now.
All it needs is a Royal Pine “Little Tree.”
Reminds me of the driving simulators we had back in driver’s ed class.
BMW 3series E30
I guess this guy wanted to drink and drive without having the legal issues involved. Or maybe he thinks he’s really driving a car because he’s drinking too much. OR maybe this guy was drinking and driving and ended up in this guys living room. OR… maybe I’m out of drinking and driving jokes now.
He was drinking and that’s what’s left of his car.
That’s also the only thing he’s still allowed to drive.
I see no belts, so where the mechanism to eject you through the screen if there’s a crash? You wanted realism.
He also doesn’t have space for a nagging wife next to him telling him to slow down… WIN!!!
I like the beer bottle shaped mouse!
WTF? It looks like he’s got a GOLF game on the screen… Whaddya do, hit the ball and then steer it as it flies?
Maybe he was drunk and just drove on the golf course
Wait… Is he playing golf?
Naw, looks more like a racing sim being viewed from a roof cam…
Wonder if his GPS can tell him how to get to his fridge.
Wait, is that a radar detector by his mouse?
I love this! So want to build it… when I get home tonight. My only problem would be that I would spend way, way to much time on it trying to get things like the tach, speedo, gas and temp gauge to match up with what’s in the game. then putting in actuators for a little movement in the thing, some large vibration “sub-woofer” packs to match up with the rumble packs on the controllers, a speaker just to make the engine noises coming from just in front and one in back for just the exhaust noises, a horn and a rear-view mirror that is a small LCD (they already make them so no fab needed!) so I can see the behind me. To say the least I would go all out on it, this is all of the stuff I came up with in just a few seconds.. just image everything else I would be trying to add… and I might even be able to do it all with out my girlfriend leaving me, just tell her I’m building it for her to learn how to drive a manual car since she is dying to drive my cars but doesn’t know how or want to break them while trying to learn.
This is not a Genuine virtual experience without fuzzy dice and a seat for the Mother-in-Law.
I can’t decide if this is more or less awesome than the treadmill setups.
I haven’t played a driving sim in years, but if I had this, I would take it up again.
I wonder if the A/C blows cold?
One problem with this setup, seriously. There’s no dead pedal.
What would make this REALLY awesome would be if the speedo and rev counter in the dash worked. But I doubt they do
DO WANT! Not really a kludge but a awesome well made accessory for a mancave or large game room!
Best … Video Game … System … Ever!
Guys… its a case mod for a logitech wheel…

Saw it is adobe reviews for the g27 racing wheel.
This was built by a friend of mine. I’ve driven in it several times.
The entire gauge cluster works including tach, speedo, temp gauge and gas gauge. The vents blow air and have heater elements built into them. No AC though. Has a factory tape deck with factory CD changer (speakers are mounted in factory kick panels). Also has a factory heated seat. Horn buttons are view change and the ignition switch works to turn on and start the car. Fog light button is used as the power button to the computer.
All in all, it’s pretty damn awesome.
See Fred? You dont need to wait for virtual reality to be invented.
This reminds me of those drivers’ ed simulators that we had in the 80′s. I wonder if someone took one of those simulators and then retrofitted it for use with video games.
Anything worth doing is worth doing bigger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psAZSPK4pWc
Did you notice the MASSIVE amount of lag in the steering response though? That guy was all over the track. Looks like it would be near undrivable.
I spy TrackMania on the monitor. I got a dashboard and a soldering iron and lots of spare time…. I will copy!
Poor e30.
did anyone else notice the “ultra realism” of the beer next to the driver?
