Using trash bags is not new for temporary HVAC ducting. When I was in the Navy (80s and 90s) we did this frequently. Adding more and more electronic equipment to older ships from the 60s and 70s that didn’t have adequate HVAC required measures exactly like this.
This is standard on the International Space Station so if it’s good for space it’s good for home!
Seems like a box fan would have accomplished this with less drama.

I once did this using a roll of dropcloth plastic (3′ wide x 20′ long), taping the seam with standard packaging tape. It was fun to see “the worm” come to life when we turned on the air.
