Should have used one of the old 5 disc cd-rom changer with more player controls on the front. Many of the ancient cd-rom drives had play/pause and track skip controls on the front. As they lead directly to the soundcard they would play without the use of any software at all.

This one still seems to have some of the controls though, more than most of the newer ones do.

Heh, I always suspected PC 5″ bays were the same size as car stereo cutouts … it seems to be true, so long as that sponge is taking the place of a custom fascia surround. The power and audio outs are definitely compatible, though the true kludging comes from them using the barely-amplified earphone jack as a feed to the speakers rather than running the drive’s “proper” lineout to an amplifier.

  29. RJ says:

Oh look! Dear! This model has a thermally insulated self-retracting coffee cup holder!! I think it works like the one on your computer!
