Even Parking Spaces Are Made In China

I don’t know if I should make a quip about the shoddy construction or just be in awe that it worked. – Ms. Fix-It

Then she pulls out in front of someone and nearly causes an accident. Typical woman/asian driver.

    • JAPH says:

No. Wrong. This isn’t “win”. This is EPIC WIN!!!

And to think I had to park in one of those annoying spots marked

next to the parking space because the Wal Mart lot was full. I think she should patent the Portable Parking Space..Who wouldn’t buy this :D ?

  1. Soundnous says:

The fact that they’re listening to “Empire State of Mind” makes this whole thing about 9000 times more awesome.

    • sylderon says:

Or at least it would if the song didn’t suck ass.

    • Lady Bean says:

OMG, I can’t imagine hearing music from another country in a non-English language being played on American radios other than on special shows, even if it is a cd or satellite radio or something still really fascinated that they are listening to that song! Not sure I understand how the parking space thing works though.

    • Michael says:

Alicia did a fine job with it, but I thought Jay-z either phoned it in, or simply showed the thinness of his talent on that song. I suspect the latter.

  2. Anonymouse says:

    Totally awesome win!

    • mjlush says:

      I want to beleve…. but..

It was all just a bit stagy. “I just happened to be taking video footage of a random cars in China and this happened!”. It would have been more convincing as security camera footage…

The plastic was in very good nick, there was only one set of tire tracks on it

      • ann says:

that could be driving school car. my friend was taking driving licence course in Taiwan, and her instractor was filming everything just like on this video. and maybe he wanted to teach how to park a car, thats why they were waiting for parking space. well, it drove away together with a car:)

  3. bob_super says:

Too slow, cops could see you. There’s gotta be a way duct tape and WD40 can be used to make it quicker to install/remove.

    • фдуч_шяь says:

Actually, a lot quicker is to have a wheel boot lock with you at all times. Park anywhere, put on the boot, and police thinks they’ve already fined you. Come back to your car, unboot the boot and put it in the trunk. I believe one Russian guy managed to get away with this for quite some time in Moscow, where finding parking spot is close to impossible…

      • cbast says:

I used to do something like that in college. Park somewhere without a permit. When you get a ticket, pay it off, but save it in the glove box. Then, next time you park, slip the old paid-off ticket under your windshield wipers. The campus cops will think you’ve already been ticketed and leave you alone.

        • Orv says:

Wouldn’t have worked at my college. I saw cars with three or four tickets in various stages of decomposition tucked under the windshield wiper.

      • fluffy says:

My friend does that. She’s got a boot in her truck and she’s pretty quick about booting and unbooting.

  4. oh2sail says:

I don’t think it’s real. Why didn’t they pull immediately into the space, but wait for her to park, walk back, and roll it up? How did there happen to be a pole right there and how did she so handily attach and disattach her parking sign? Cute… but not real.

    • Break-it-up! says:

Ooh, I can break this up nicely!!
      1. Common knowledge: Don’t run over a lady who might just have forgotten something. And you don’t steal that parkingspace immediately after she’s 4 feet away from the freaking space.
      2. There’s poles all over the city? She could just pick any pole and tape that sign up!
      3. I would either say double-sided tape or some self-adhesive paste. Pretty easy, and I myself use both of them to hang up pictures and shit.

      Cute, and most likely real…

(I would rather question why the heck they’re filming randomly while driving… But it’s the chinese, they do the darndest things…)

      • jamisings says:

Plus the pole looks very much like a tree.

      • Sir Scarfalot says:

Well… no. Yes, your points are valid but not the tape. Perhaps she was only staying for a little bit, but for longer term parking it would not work. As one of the cleanup crew for several parades that happen in my area, I have seen temporary signs fall to bits rather fast…

As for the filming, I know lots of people who film all the time. Its mostly in order to prove fault or lack of it in case of accident or cop. Just have to delete the pointless video on a digital camcorder and you can keep it up a LONG time.

        • Longgun says:

Really, lots of people? Lying to make a point is a bit pathetic.

It was obviously fake. The camera was handheld, not mounted on the dash. They would have pulled in, there was plenty of time even though she did stop. Obviously they knew she was getting out.

      • Quaxo says:

You’ve obviously never tried to park in China before.

Besides, there are just too many things about this. It’s definitely fake and stage… and gay.

    • Galen says:

They didn’t want to park there yet, because she stopped and they wondered, what is going on. Obviously she chose the parking space next to a pole.

    • 4real_foo says:

They didn’t pull up because she was still close and anything could happen at that point. There was a pole there because she picked a spot where there was a pole(she wouldn’t hunt for a place without a pole if she got everything together for that), and it appeared she used that type of poster sticker thing on the back of it to just put up.

IMHO of course. I could be 100% wrong, but still is an epic idea. Though I dont know why its a mat instead of just the lines…

      • Tessa says:

The lines would fly away and/or could be easily stolen. It would also be quite easy to misplace them into a not so straight line.

The mat is easier to place, comes with a few handful stones to hold it in place and then it’s held up there by your own car. Quite symbiotical: the mat provides a parking place to the car while the car keeps the mat from flying away.

And BTW the girl could (should) learn to move much faster.

    • Church says:

double sided tape on the pole when she removed it, I don’t know why they diddn’t just pull in.

      • Vickie says:

She put the pole there, as well. She was just leaving to pick up a flatbed truck to carry it home. Very elaborate scheme.

        • Dane says:

agreed, a very elaborate scheme! :P Defintely could have picked a better woman though -how on earth does someone move so slowly?

Also love how the P on the sign is like cartoonish

  5. bella g. says:

I agree with oh2sail. Someone moves from a hard to find parking spot, I move right in, not wait for them to get out of their car…

    • Nezumi says:

If you watch closely, you can see them starting to pull up, only to stop and back up once she gets out of her car — pretty normal response, all in all. Could still be faked, but…

      • Acyl says:

As the guys are waiting, they’re complaining about how long the girl’s taking to leave. When she finally pulls out of the ‘parking space’:

“Ahhh, REALLY not bad…wait, you’re STOPPING now? C’mon, I wanna RAM them—”
        “Wha? Someone’s getting out?”
        “What’s WITH this car?”
“Hey, are you moving or not?”

(That’s when she starts rolling up the space and they crack up)

Is it fake? I dunno. But adjusted for colloquialism, that’s what the guys are saying. It makes sense.

        • Anna Rexia says:

Wait. You know enough Mandarin to understand particular colloquialisms, and write English with proficiency? I think I love you.

          • BarGamer says:

I can confirm the accuracy of the translation, and add that the deeper voice is speaking the mainland Chinese dialect, and the other, more nerdier-sounding of the two, is probably from southern China.

            • Charles says:

Is that because the southern Chinese dialect naturally sounds nerdier, or because the guy whose speaking it is nerdier?

        • Chris says:

Is Mandarin’s only vowel sound “aww?”

  6. metaf says:

umm. I’m not sure if its fake or not, but as for the pole….its a pole. They’re everywhere!

  7. bettielee says:

And why were they videotaping at all? If America’s funniest home videos has taught us nothing, they’ve taught us that if you park a crappy old worthless car under a tree, and then cut the tree down…. you know the rest….

    • jamisings says:

Maybe for the same reason I often wish I had a dashboard camera – to catch people doing illegal things in traffic and publish it on the internet to humiliate them.

  8. jursky says:

    Good idea !

  9. The Architect says:

The instability of this video… just made me sick.

  10. dono1 says:

She certainly does have space in the back of her car.

  11. angie says:

well we ladies think of everything :)

  12. dion says:

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen on the internet. No joke.

  13. tyberius says:

Meh. In Hungary, a driver will just turn on the hazard flashers. It’s an universal sign of saying “Yes, I know I shouldn’t park here, and frankly I don’t give a damn”. Sometimes I see a row of 3 or 4 cars all parked in the wrong place, using those damn blinkers.

  14. ducttapemom says:

    definitely unique win!

  15. Dillon says:

What just happened? Was she not allowed to park there? And why did she have plastic (?) under her car?

  16. Summer says:

OMG, real or not, this was a very clever idea!

  17. boaks says:

…I don’t care if it’s fake or not, it’s hilarious!

  18. dono1 says:

I had a van when I first got my license and kept a concrete parking block (you know, the long white things) in the back that I made out of Styrofoam. No parking spaces left in the mall parking lot? Wanna bet?
Granted, some white line tape would have been an awesome addition.

  19. rexifelis says:

holy crap! i would have gotten out of the car and bowed to the lady!
dont care if it was faked/staged at all… awesome idea!

    • Sharlene says:

But… in order for this to be fake, you (the person filming in the car behind her) are in on the fake as well. That’s the point. It’s a fake video. In fact, as we all know, if something isn’t filmed, it hasn’t even really happened. :)

  20. stix213 says:

    awesome girl is awesome

  21. pootpoot says:

Video should’ve been sped up 2x.

  22. brilliant says:

I don’t even speak Chinese and I know those guys were high. They said dude like fifty times…in Chinese.

  23. Bob-H says:

I wonder if the meter police ever caught on to the parking place appearing and disappearing. Perhaps she can use it only once on any particular street.

  24. Anne says:

AFV is a place where you would succeed video poster.

  25. Isaac says:

um they listen to rap in china

  26. Igetstabby says:

She was executed the second after they stopped filming.

  27. Liza says:

I wanna see a meter police walk up to that car and go “Hmmn, seems legit.” and walk off…

  28. AaronH says:

I wonder where odd parking spaces are made….

  29. Kmc says:

Not to ruin it but this is an advertiesment for w/e VW the woman is driving. I have seen many of these Chinese ads and this is of the same flavor.

They always use an attractive woman. Although you don’t see her close up it is clear she has a nice figure. How many times do you film you and your friend parking the car?

Companies create the ads and then post them on youku.com (Chinese youtube) and let them go viral. They are much better at fooling watchers than American ads.

  30. bubbaralph says:

You can take the car out of the parking space but you can’t take the parking space out of the car.

  31. Tessa says:

Hi honey, it’s me. I think I’m gonna be late for lunch. I can’t find any place to park around this damn restaurant… What do you mean “check in the back seat”?

  32. bubbaralph says:

They say you can’t take it with you. I guess that all depends on what “it” is and where you are going.

  33. crwoosley says:

Please, someone tell me the name of that song that’s playing. It’s driving me up the wall trying to remember.

  34. seve says:

really funny, but seriusly… hand over your man card… both of you

  35. gindaol says:

A portable parking space… damn those crafty asians!

  36. Dogmeat says:

If she has gone to these lengths for a parking space, you know she has forged a get-out-of-jail-free pass as well.

  37. PsychoDad says:

I’d be worried if it was real . . . for her, I mean. The cops will still shoot you in the back for the neck for a stunt like that.

  38. Sodapop says:

She has the cutest smile ever. I must wed her immediately.

  39. Cermo says:

With a little work, I think this idea could go high-tech:
    http://www.lightlanebike.com/index.html

  40. ye_olde_shotgun says:

    Beijing State of Mind.

  41. wheeeeedoggie says:

    This is not a kludge.

    This is an EPIC WIN

  42. Keith says:

I have no idea what this is.

  43. LMAO!! NO WAY THAT’S LEGAL! What is wrong with people this days!?

  44. patrick says:

    ancient Chinese secret huh?

  45. UndefinedPersona says:

    Bei-jiiiiiiing,
Parking spaces made from plas-TIC tarps.

  46. Captain says:

    Epic Win!
