Et le singe es sur la branch!
Ah! We have you in the ‘tropical’ suite! You’ll get fresh coconuts delivered daily! Just mind you don’t stand under the delivery system…
In Mercia? The coconut’s tropical!
Beachfront condo, your toes in the sand, lying underneath a swaying palm tree……
Is this more about the palm tree coming through the roof on this side of the building, or the tower that’s coming through on the other side?
could the building have been there first? how fast do these trees grow? anyone?
They grow pretty fast if you have a warm sunny climate. Here in southern California they are like weeds.
I don;t know how fast they grow, or what the root system might do to the foundation, but you can’t take out a tree in California without a mandate delivered personally from God, who has to prove that he’s being entirely secular and not getting the way of the state. If he’s in CA, some tree-hugger probably cried that the tree had a right to live or that some rare (and would never be missed) tree mite lived in the tree and we shouldnt disturb it.
Assuming the house in in CA, that is. (How I loathe this state…)
You’ve just about got it. Unless the tree is dying you have to get all sorts of special permits PLUS pay a TON of money to plant five trees – PER TREE mind you – to “replace” trees you removed. We had two messy elms we wanted to remove. Dad finally just cut them down himself in secret. Which revealed that the trees were rotten down deep and would’ve been dangerous had they been allowed to stay. So he didn’t get fined. But they were super mad up until then.
Ugh! Yeah, I forgot the “replace a forest” crap. IN San Jose there was this old oak tree that I was in favor of saving if at all possible. It was the center upon which the town was founded back in 1777. As years went by it wound up on somebody’s yard. UNfortunately it got sick and was going to collapse on the house. Stupid tree huggers wanted to family to leave the tree alone and just accept that it might fall on them and kill them. The tree was more important than the people. The city poured a lot of money into trying to save it, but in the end it had to come down before it killed someone. Of course, the protesters were out in force. Thankfully, none of got idiotic and once the tree was down they went home.
Oh man! The idiots who want to save sick and even DEAD trees just tick me off! There’s this parasite from another country that started to infest trees here several years ago. So lots of trees in the forests are now dead. The environmentalists will NOT allow the infected and dead trees be removed. So what happens every year? HUGE WILDFIRES!
If they’d just let the dead and disease trees be removed so the healthy trees could thrive, then the wildfires wouldn’t be half as big. But NOOOOO! Can’t do that! Morons.
LOL. Bravo!
I hope it pays rent
If this scene doesn’t deserve a facepalm, I don’t know what does.

Thank you, Anna and Picard!
Tropical Lawn Dart eXtreme!
Looks like the folks at Southwest Airlines’ new tree moving operation need to return to cargo tiedown school.
I like this. They’re being in touch with their environment.
You should see the natural koi pond in the kitchen and quick sand patch in the kid’s room!
As if this isn’t bad enough, the hotel rates are through the roof as well.

Day-192
Zombies are getting smart, last week they planted a tree just outside my house. I didn’t think it was anything dangerous so I left them too it, turns out their urine works as an uber-gro solution, my fortification took a glancing hit from the fast growing palm tree.
I think it’s a test run, i’ll have to keep an eye out for them planting more. Only I’m out of shotgun rounds and my crowbar is uneffective against palm trees.
This has got to be CA because this is easier than getting ten thousand permits from every tree hugging granola nut bar to cut down a tree.
And, this needs to go into the “things that are doing it” file.
Oh, someone else knows about CA. not first
Probably Palm Springs, as in “palm springs through the roof.”
I’m baffled.
Sure…the place is a hole in the wall with a hole in the roof. You might think the palm tree looks sad and lonely. However, nothing could be further from the truth. It gets lots of attention from passersby and has made plenty of fronds over the years.
Probably had a few dates, too.
It’s just too bad they always leaf him.
I wonder how much damage a big storm will do to the house as that palm tree starts to sway…
When the owner finds out about this he’s really going to raise the roof.
I had a house with something similar, just not as absurdly close. the back patio — large and spacious — was built around a large shade tree that had its own little ‘planter’ well in the cement and went up through the roof. But not right up against the house!

Here, you can see it on the left.
I’m sorry, the previous comments are funny but am I the only one to notice the headless person standing in the window??? What a nice hotel to cater to handicapped persons :*)
And I think the roof tiles are upside down….
@tlsheff, thats a Manichean in the window, it is most likely a store.
@kato
you are truly an idiot have you ever seen a red brick roof? they designed that way for water flow reasons
Looks like a house tree to me
I guess they need some REALLY fresh palm oil there.
@ryan – Mannequin, though in fact it may not be. Privacy laws being what they are now somebody’s head could have just been photoshopped out of the image. As to Kato’s comment, he may be thinking of the more traditional tile roofs where the tiles are in fact rounded on top.
@PyshoDad – My grandmother had a tree like that in her porch too when I was growing up.
It is clearly a test site for the new NO-Klog gutter system.
You can choose the room with the palm tree in it or the one with the radio tower. It is the same price.
Does anyone else notice the fact that there is some one in the window taking a pic of the person who took This pic?
The guy in the window… where’s his head?
Hilarious!
Is that tower growing out of the other side of the roof?
When plants take over!
