Sadly, when we had our condo inspected before we bought it, this is how the garage door opener was wired. Offer was amended so that seller had to have it taken care of (as in, actual outlet installed so that opener was plugged in properly) before closing.

Yeah, In North America AC the black wire is the “current carrying conductor” white is the “neutral” and green is the “bond” or “earth” not to be confused with the “ground” which is what you do to electrical systems not devices or equipment.
