I have 3 Maine Coon cats (MCs run 18-22 lbs), plus 3 DSHs (domestic short hairs) aptly named Rascal & Trouble. Any of the 5 of them could follow the noise from the outside, stalk it and kill it. Rascal & Tom Sawyer even have the very un-cat-like behavior of working together…that could mean the end of the whole vent system!! And with that entry into the ceiling, anything is possible. Cashew would even take out the curtain too, just as a courtesy of course.

yes, our water/gas meters are inside the basement of the building but we dont have to let anyone in cause theyre read uatomatically from the gas company. pretty neat

no kidding, my cat refuses to cover hers, a habit leftover from our multi-cat household days where she was asserting herself as queen of the house. so *i* get to be the sand-flinger if i dont want to lay in bed smelling a fresh loaf

OMGawd. Genius. If I hook that up to a reverse-cycle air vent, I can gas the little bastards, and then dispose of their bodies without having to touch cat.
