I can see this. Probably has a fixed-size template for the “STOP”, and his boss told him to paint stop there. You don’t get anywhere arguing with the boss.

That’s not the website, that’s how HTML is interpreted according to the standard (all contiguous whitespace collapses into a single space).

Doesn’t look like a kludge to me. Funny though!

  9. JB says:

After the grass grows it will read “TOP”! I don’t know how drivers will interpret that?!?!

What will happen when the paint on the grass comes off? TOP!

  11. De Jappe says:

He could have saved space by merging the right side of the letter ‘T’ in the ‘O’, and the left side of the ‘P’ in the ‘O’ as well. That way the ‘S’ would fit on the road as well.
The result would be a very tight stop

  22. ButteredToastRocks says:

Maybe he orignally did it to let everyone know that it’s the top of the road, just in case there are any of those same people that need “HOT” on their coffee.

  28. TexasDan says:

Is it worse that he placed the stencil partly on grass, or that he painted “stop” on the shoulder? Going the wrong way?

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that this was one of those “saved or created” Porkulus jobs.

STOP! In the name of the lawn!

  33. BoringTroll says:

It looks like the road used to be wide enough, but the vegetation is taking over. I’ve seen that happen with sidewalks, but never with a road. Vehicle traffic beats the grass back pretty quickly. Could that be a pedestrian trail?
Someone should use a flat shovel to separate the vegetation from the road surface. Then they can call “S” man back to fix the ‘top sign.

  34. Graham says:

    That’s tops. Well done.

  35. Turel says:

“Sorry, boss, the road moved while we were painting.”

  36. Alain says:

Looks fake to me. There should be a crossroads. If it was a real stop sign, you should see the road crossing on the top of the picture… Maybe they just reharsed painting on an unused portion of road ?

  37. Sus says:

I can see confused hippies coming from the other direction looking for the pot in the road.

  38. Jim says:
