Fixer Dogmeat says (in the late Billy Mays’s voice I assume), “The inflatable protect-o-cop fills with air in less than two minutes. Simply set him up to “keep an eye on things” while you take your time on an extended break. His lifelike appearance will make anyone in the area think twice about misbehaving! Just 5 easy payments of $19.95.”

Been there, done that. A level III-A vest is not the most comfortable thing in the world to wear. I just wish someone would invent a carrier that would manage the air flow (my back would never cool down).

  17. Tony V says:

Umm… this isn’t really a kludge. It’s an actual product designed to cool off body armor in hot temperatures. Saw it on a site that sells bulletproof vests and other law enforcement/security stuff.

    • jamisings says:

Considering he’s likely using it for the air conditioning because – like people have said, this is typical for cops who are wearing body armor, I doubt he’s roasting. More like freezing.

  23. dono1 says:

It may look crazy but it does keep the squad car at a uniform temperature.

  24. Quark says:

The new Robocop! Even more lifelike than before, now recharges while on the move. One full charge lasts an entire shift.

  30. Eric says:

They sell them for soldiers in-country, so they can put the output piece under their IBAs, to help them cool off. This isn’t a kludge, it’s a legitimate product.

  31. Chris says:

Doesn’t look like a kludge at all, looks like a feature albeit a bizarre one.

    • kc/cc says:

A kludge is any inelegant solution to a problem. That may be a product you can go out and buy, but this poor guy sort of reminds me of Bossie hooked up to the milking machine. I think that qualifies, and so do all those wires zip-tied together. I suppose we can focus on either one.

      • tahrey says:

the kludgey part is how the hose has to run all the way across the cabin like that. bad news for his partner – hose gets in the way, AND they can’t themselves keep cool, either with their own cool-vest or by using the aircon normally.

  32. Sarge says:

    Yeah, not a kludge. Purpose-built.
    Please remove.

  33. Leo Lichtman says:

I think it’s a speking tube. “Bridge to engine room–can you hear me now?”

  34. Crudus says:

A major design flaw with our new heat powered cops is they work less efficiently during the winter and can’t travel far from their cruisers since they must be hooked up to them like so.

  35. Siegfried says:

This is actually built into Flight Uniforms in the Army. They have a vent hole with velcro built in to hold these deals for pilots.

  36. Cosmas says:

Cold-blooded Cop is in your cruiser, stealing your cool to keep his core-temperature at optimal levels.

  40. D says:

I wouldn’t be without mine in the summer. Great invention! I have had to Kludge mine a bit. I bought a piece of swimming pool vacuum hose to replace the hose that was cracking. Might be time for a new one this year.

  41. tahrey says:

this is quite neat… i’d like one to use in my own car in winter…

  53. masterofkludge says:

This definately a valid posting, just because its sold in the stores doesn’t mean its not a Kludge!!

  54. Rainchaser says:

So, if all terrorists learned how to live in hot, dry places without air-conditioning, they would be able to evade cops, right? Hey, how about they ban donuts, too? How would the “war on Turr” progress then? God (or Allah, or Buddha, or Krishna, or who-ever the hell you believe in) forbid! No Air-con? No Donuts? No coffee? How can a cop survive?

  55. Lauren says:

What my uncle invented is cool and one of the best things for ppl that have to wear vests. He is a very cool cop and one of the best cops ever.

  56. herds789 says:

It’s the safe and easy way to clean the streets.

  57. Oh no! It’s either that they’re going to suck off the cop’s new shirt or that they’re going to inflate him so that he explodes. Atleast now it’ll take longer for bullets to go through, but I doubt it’s even saver with all that air puffed up, it’ll just fly into his shirt and bust his bones.

  58. Ironvan says:

  59. HoaiPhai says:

If he’s a typical taco-stand-hangin’ cop he should be sitting on that ventilator hose.
