Okay — let me clarify on foreign car cupholders.

1. They do drink coffee and drive. Some Europeans live on a coffee I.V. However, they don’t drink ANYTHING in the size of 44oz. Most coffee comes in tiny cups (think 6oz). Therefore you don’t need anything ridiculously sturdy to hold it. So they put them in, cause it is handy, but they don’t realize that in the US most people drive around with cups that hold over a liter of fluid.

About 20 years ago, I had a 1969 Mercedes-Benz (yeah, it was old and falling to bits, but it still went). It had proper cup-holders, and ashtrays, in all front and back seats, not to mention front- and rear-seat cigarette lighters. Then, sometime in the ’90s, the health-and-safety spoilsports decided that hot drinks and driving did not mix. Hence, modern European cars do not have real cupholders, but they do have sophisticated stereos, trip computers, sat-nav etc. These, of course, are far less distracting than a cup of coffee and a cigarette !

ok, im sure this is a nissan sentra because i drive a ’92. My car has cup holders, two of em….like right under where that nice toilet paper roll is.

Wait, they have ashtrays, but no cupholders? I should take up smoking while I sit in traffic, and give up caffeine, I guess.
