I’m ona boat!
We’ll win the Yachting Cup this year for sure! No one will notice, right?
In light of recent military intervention, the Pirates have upgraded their attack fleet
Actually, that’s pretty standard for moving sailboats around harbors and inland areas. Hell, the motor’s nicer than the boat.
Including the attachment method?
Standard location, the only difference is the mount is obviously homemade on the flimsy side – My idea of Homemade tends toward Overkill.
Besides, if you put the mount off to one side of the old rudder the thrust is asymmetrical, and a severe heel into the wind under sail could dunk the motor. They don’t run well after being dunked too much.
@Bruce: funny, that. I have a sailing dinghy, much lighter than this one, with the outboard to one side. I can just notice a little skew in the propulsion, easily corrected with a slight trim. Also, the one time that the engine ingested water it was because metal fatigue had altered Mr. Johnson’s idea of an engine clamp, not because of excessive roll.
Guess what one of the Pirates of Penzance got for Christmas…..
Good thing it’s a sail boat. Just saying’.
ENGINES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY! GOOD NIGHT!
Please explain.
It’s a Morbo joke. However, I do think that it can and does work that way – just a huge trolling motor, really.
The real kludges that people seem to miss out on is that the life rafts are made out of duct tape, just in case the Popsicle Stick hull starts to leak.
Life rafts, what life rafts?
You mean the tires on the side ?? Thems there to prevent damage from hitting the dock…..or maybe the bottom in the case of the SS Minnow here.
Oh, they’re tires? They look like repurposed memorial wreaths to me.
Memorial wreaths used during the last funeral for sailors who tragically drowned after their boat sank.
Failboat.
Actually, That is pretty common for a sailboat. Voted Down…
Hanging an outboard motor from the stern of a sailboat with rope is common? Where? I’ve seen a hell of a lot of sailboats with outboards, none of which were dangling from a rope with poorly tied knots….
Hey- ease up. It has 2×4′s in there too, ok?
And the captain DID say “All a-board”
@snotnose: hate to spoil it, but those 2×4′s are part of the original design, not a kludge. They’re used to bring the rear stay attachment point back and free from the rudder. Also, it allows a longer boom, and thus a shorter mast for the same sail area.
“Yea, there is some rods and boards and stuff sticking out, I think I’ll tie the engine there.”
“Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip…”
GILIGAAAAAAIN!!!!!
This is really normal for sailboats. It’s something to use for fine maneuvering in harbors and such.
Jacques Cousteau’s cousin Kludge aboard his research vessel, The Collapso.
BWAhahahahahahahaha !!!!
Good to have you back dono1.
Calypso? She’s vicious.
Looks like that motor is doing about 35 knots.
“one dry foot” in action
Well, I think it is just the catch of the day. They have it where it is to keep it alive. Please notice the last guy on the end, by the pointy part of the, boat, ship (?) Notice his hands, he is telling about the one that got away
This is from The Real Gilligan’s Island on TBS:
Congratulations to Skipper Charlie, who won the ultimate challenge and was rescued from the island in our season finale.
The envy of the marina: a combination outboard motor / stern anchor.
What? it works for planes dont it?
Thar she sucks!!
I was wondering what that Nigerian Prince was doing with all my money…
If we don’t have pirate flag is because I used it to fix for max speed.
I wonder what the authoritative bald guy the the self inflating life vest is explaining to the Gilligan dude that’s holding the 2×4 replacement for what used to be the tiller… And I’m guessing that they got the blue sail cover for half price!
WHAT?!?!? MORE POWER? but the scouter said that it was OVER 9000!!!!!!
wouldnt theat be backwards though?
