Look closer. It’s raised (engraving is etching/taking surface area away), and probably done using a welder. The more I look at this, the more cool factor it has.

I’m thinking maybe a small propane tank, covered by what is made to look like a serving cover dome. This picture makes me happy. It’s very portable and looks like it could be used as either a gas cooker or a smoker.
