Ironing. Defrosting. Same Thing.

Submitted By: Joe W

Favorite Comment(s!): Fixer Badgirl says, “A pressing defrost emergency?”

AND, for being a nerd after my own heart: Fixer Rich says, “I don’t think this is what the D&D guys meant when they said “damage reduction 5/cold iron.”

Do I use “Cottons” or “Permanent Press” on R-134a? And Steam might speed it up…

(Actually, this isn’t too bad safety wise. The melt water will drain away, and that aluminum evaporator plate won’t melt.)

  2. ms says:

it’s too late, my mum was defrosting yesterday…

  3. Daniel says:

‘Cause if you keep the iron in warm for too long, it’s gonna rot.

  25. me says:

It’s a dorm sized fridge…how long would it take to unplug it and defrost the freeze?

    • BigMal27 says:

Longer than the 30 minutes they let you have a moving cart (if you’re lucky) once they tell you to get your crap out at the end of the semester. And dear old Dad doesn’t want it melting in the van. Because, really, how many nerds actually prepare for move-out day (aside from me)?

    • me says:

Lol, I went to college in the 70′s and I don’t think we had irons and no tiny fridges either. Dad had one in the Bar at home though. I recall the only things we took home at semeseter’s end were the important things…bongs etc.

    • Bruce says:

In Europe that’s not a dorm fridge, that’s their idea of full size. Which is why they buy milk in pints/500ml instead of gallons/4L, shop every day, and can’t stock up when there are sales.
(HINT: The packaging & shipping costs you more than the contents when you get too small.)
The typical US full-size fridge with 17 or 21 cubic feet, they’d try to move in every summer.

  30. bAT L says:

I just noticed. Are those fire extinguishers on the bottom shelf?! Can you refrigerate fire extinguishers?

  31. canoehead says:

I’ve seriously thrown a running hair dryer in the fridge before, but took it out when the ice melted all over it. Makes perfect sense.

  32. Threethisweek says:

Don’t hit the steam shot button, or you’ll have to start over.

  33. deadmongoose says:

I used to do this all the time in the Marines. If I wake up on Friday morning realizing I forgot to defrost the freezer for inspection. It works in a pinch.
