He could have at least found a micro toggle switch

  2. Daniel says:

    No pull string? Wimp.

  3. yonsje says:

How was he able to fit a toggle switch in there? Those things are huge

  4. RusFixer says:

Well done. Now this old razor seems as brutal as the first cellulars. And you could apply some “biohazard” stickers onto it, too.

  5. GabachoMike says:

Could also embed a PROM-chip that has the ‘chainsaw’ sound on it – for better effect, like those new greeting cards.

  6. Sue says:

The work of a true engineer. Never say die!

  7. notanengineer says:

if he told me, I’d have sent him a new shaver (thankx to my relatives for double Christmas Presents). :-P but the shipping would probably have been too expensive…. :,-(

  8. ms says:

he could repair that switch, it could be funnier

  9. Andreas L says:

I also did a shaver-related kludge once… The (rechargeable) battery in it was somehow broken and did no longer charge… so I removed all the electronics and replaced it with a thin cable from the motor to some AC/DC-adaptor.
Sometimes it would need help starting, but once it ran, it worked well.

    • Anna Rexia says:

After having it only two years, my mini clipper quit holding a charge. It holds a Sub-C battery and I already had one lying around (I used to play with radio control vehicles) so I soldered a new one in. That one has lasted over four years.

  10. saintknowitall says:

This and the accompanying motor oil aftershave is all one really needs.

  11. Dave says:

Right On! I still use a cord-only Norelco from the 70′s. None of that lightweight plastic and circuit board crap that’s sold today. As long as the heads can be replaced, I’m not changing. The switch on mine finally died, but I fortunately found a shop with a replacement. If I have to, I’ll get a toggle switch, too.

  12. DrPluton says:

My grandfather once wired a toggle switch to the horn in his truck.

  13. dono1 says:

Some people are uncertain about shaving with an electric razor but it looks like this guy has definitely made the switch.

  14. JB says:

With a Norelco, you indeed need a big kill switch!

  15. saintknowitall says:

Unfortunately, the owner of this shaver electrocuted himself, not realizing the need for a waterproof switch.

  16. Mike says:

To me, this fix probably isn’t worth my time or effort if it were up to me. I would’ve just bought a new one…they’re like $40.00 and under. Usually new ones have sharper blades on it that cut better, as the old ones dull and wear out after a lot of use. But on the other hand, I’m all for repairing and recycling! But fixing electric shavers isn’t my specialty.

    • Clyde says:

      @Mike,

You mean to tell us that you are are seriously unaware that replacement blades can be purchased?? Wow, you need to get out more.

      @fred staal,

Nice! LOL I have an 800RX (looks like yours, only black) that I’ve kept going for YEARS (close to 20, I think!) simply by replacing the rechargeable batteries and blades (which I’m surprised they still make to fit!). My switch is still good, though. :-)

  17. AKA Steve says:

What would happen if that razor accidentally turned on in his airline baggage?

  18. Wolfen says:

Wait, that is not a shaver… that is an Atari 2600 joystick mod! SWEET!

  19. Adrian says:

He neglected to photograph his wife’s pull string-start hair dryer

  20. husabob says:

If I did this to my Norelco, maybe my wife would stop borrowing it shave her legs…

  21. GLHRM says:

    Atari, the later years.

  22. grand says:

it would not surprise me if my grandfather did this XD

  23. Stickers the Huskyfur of Evilstuffs says:

By attaching many razorblades to this ordinary desk fan and sticking my face into it, I can save time in my morning routine! :D

  24. Bill in Tennessee says:

I am SO glad that someone finally showed what crap Norelco shavers have become. Back when they were made in Sweden or Holland or wheverever the hell they were made, they were quality products…good strong shavers with motors that actually had enough torque to cut beard hairs. Nowadays, they either make them in China and/or from such shoddy wimpy materials that I have thrown away two brand new Norelco shavers and resorted to buying old ones on eBay. Norelco, if you’re listening out there (but why should you, really?), clean up your act and start making good shavers again, eh? Your shavers today might be excellet for the fine, thin blonde fuzz that estrogen-saturated metrosexual “men” grow but not for real beards, if ya know what I’m sayin’.
