At least the television gets good reception. Looks like some sort of nature show.

  2. Gargomon says:

Wow, that screensaver looks so realistic!

  3. William says:

It’s putting the Cat back into Cathode Ray Tube

  4. Daniel says:

A surprising choice of subject for the first attempt at Smell-a-Vision.

  5. Chaosmind says:

My cat would still sleep on top.

  6. GalacticCowboy says:

Apparently the cat fried the monitor by sleeping on top of it (note the scorch marks on the case) so they decided to move him about 10 inches south…

    • Anna Rexia says:

The scorch marks are normal. CRTs can get pretty warm, and the buildup of dust over time tends to blacken. I use Simple Green to remove stuff like that.

  7. Brad says:

And you can use the Angel dvds as kitty litter

  8. purehatred89 says:

Someone likes lolcats a bit too much…

  9. Fidget says:

In this case CRT is Cat Repose Terminal.

  10. echo says:

    lolcats: now in 3-D!

  18. Lady J says:

    no mouse necessary. . . ?

  19. Tacomagic says:

The resolution is great, but it always shows the same thing.

  20. Demetrius says:

CRT? Haha… They spelled “cat” wrong!

  21. Albert says:

The actual 3D desktop display with Touch’n'Smell capabilities.

  22. TJ says:

I guess the cat is hiding its weight well in the monitor. Notice the weight holding it upright

(s)he wants to be a lolcat.

  24. JimDawg says:

    Schroedinger’s Monitor

  25. The Schwarz says:

    OMG! Permanent LOLcat!

  26. one small step says:

Somebody hasn’t been using a screen saver. I see they burned the image on their old CRT.

  27. greenduckiesgirl says:

I seriously need to figure out how to do this. I have an old CRT that I keep tripping over and maybe this will keep my cat off of the laptop!

    • Anna Rexia says:

The proper way would be to take it to a recycling center and ask them to get the chassis back, or give you another one. It takes a bit of doing to discharge the CRT and the yoke can hold enough charge to throw you across the room. Even after a basic discharging, the voltage will again increase. There are safe ways to remove the CRT and then ground them (literally – as in with leads sunk into dirt in the back yard). There are a few how-tos on the web explaining how to remove a CRT and discharge it. Or, if you can make a deal with a recycling center to bring in just the CRT (wrapped, and in a box), you can remove the monitor guts, wrap in an old towel/blanket, place in a box with some padding and off to the recycle center with it.

The improper way is kinda obvious at this point and VERY nasty to the environment.

      • George says:

Some professions just use leather gloves and a light bulb in a socket. It’s called a capacitor-forming-tool. You touch one wire from the light socket to the metal chassis of the monitor, and push the other one up under the insulating boot of the big wire attached to the picture tube. If it’s charged, the bulb should show you the progress of the discharge, by lighting up and then dimming until dead. With gloves still on, pull the big wire off of the picture tube and touch it to many mental things in the case. Then tear the sucker apart and send the unwanted parts to your community recycling center. The tool is standard equipment for those that work with monitors and power supplies.

  28. TheAntiCat says:

“I swear I could touch it.” “Damn dude, your TV made me bleed!”

  29. debirlfan says:

Cat says: “You should see what I did with the mouse!”

  30. popa says:

considering it’s a KDS monitor, I’d say that it is an upgrade

  31. Domino says:

looks like a good idea…mine caught fire last night! :(

  32. best says:

Who wants a flatscreen if you can have a catscreen?

  33. jake wilson says:

shit these HD tv’s are fantastic.it’s so life like.

  34. Krischn says:

Putting the (lol)cat to a whole new level. I like it.

  35. wa-sho says:

one thing is the cat in the monitor..
the big AWSOME in this pic is the “WhiskerCity” cardboard box, used as a toilet..

    • clare says:

Yes- clearly these recycling loving dudes have taken stereotypical hygiene lacking hippyness to a new level: notice the curtain dangling in the litter tray? I suppose this could also double as a lovely listing for cats (assuming they are all as computer literate as this one!).

    • Iguanaman says:

That ā€œWhiskerCityā€ box is actually one of those boxes with a bunch of cardboard box edges for the cat to actually sharpen its claws… We used to have one for our cats. I hope the cat doesn’t think its a toilet!

  36. Reesa says:

    Captions not included.

  37. akiraoni says:

This lolcat obsession has gone far enough >_>

  38. erkkilaron says:

Oh keeey baby looks so happy!

  39. Bradley says:

    Finally, an ANALOG LOLcat!

  40. Squirrel says:

the cat was told there was a mouse in the screen…

  41. Iguanaman says:

The “WhiskerCity” box is a box full of the edges of cardboard for the cat to sharpen its claws on, not a toilet. When we had cats we bought them one. Adding catnip to the box made them go crazy with it! Stupid cats!

  42. waldo says:

That’s my missing pussey. Have pix to prove. I want my Boo Boo Kitty back now.

  43. husabob says:

    CRT= Cat Resting There!

  44. Trey says:

computer cat is watching you waste time on facebook.

  45. one small step says:

And I always threatened to turn my old monitor into a fishbowl… What was I thinking??!

  46. DOROTHY says:

My two siamese cats knocked the flat screen over 9 times before they realized that it didn’t have a nice warm top like the old monitor. Now they just chase the Mouse’s curser.

  47. Faith says:

    Win for the nerd herd!

  48. Coyoty says:

    The picture’s fuzzy.

  49. Citric says:

Now if he puts a picture of some naked women in there somewhere, it will be an accurate simulation of the internet.

  50. the cat says:

You told me to put “cat” in the terminal!

  51. mort says:

    monitor cat watching you masturbate

  52. Kees says:

I hate late night TV. Nothing on but pussey-mercials.

  53. DD says:

I’ve always wanted to send my PC in for a cat scan

  54. mihai says:

That’s a 4D CRT with AI technology. Rocket science at a new level !

  55. William says:

Somebody really needs to find a Sharpie and kludge a caption on there. It’s not a lolcat otherwise

  56. Taneer says:

Meh, the damn thing was less useful before anyways.

  57. crudebuster says:

That’s the largest pussy I ever saw in a CRT.

  58. Darthkoz says:

This must be the new Apple OS X House Cat

  59. Nulono says:

Maybe we’ve got it all wrong and it’s just a screensaver!

  60. Stefan says:

How do you connect that? With cat5 cable?

  61. FallenAngel says:

    Look’s like a LOLCat machine…

  62. upper says:

75 channels of cable and nothing but CATS!

  63. dono1 says:

To keep your pets safe make sure you monitor their activites.

  64. half-mad-genius says:

this looks like something Ben and I would do. Infact next time he wants to throw our an old monitor…

  65. Raptor007 says:

Woah… I have that monitor! It’s a Sylvania F89, and it’s actually a really good monitor; it supports high refresh rates at 1600×1200, or up to 2048×1536@60Hz.

Shame to see one out of commission like that, but at least the kitty’s making good use of it now.

  66. duck says:

    analogue lolcats

  67. ecos says:

tragically, our darling pet lost her life later that night when we plugged the monitor in.

  68. RusFixer says:

    - Darling, I have to confess: I often simulate my ‘happy endings’…
    - Honey, the truth is I’ve made our cat to simulate Your internets a couple of years ago.

  69. tw says:

Hey, I still use a monitor like that!

  70. Brad says:

He’s probably thinking while the hell is everyone staring at me.

  71. Fede says:

good for the cat it was not LCD

  72. Indrek says:

    Pretty nice spot. Original idea.
And we just threw those away at the office. Should have given to the shelter atleast.

  73. Is this REALLY fixed? says:

Personally, I don’t know whether the cat’s ON the screen or if it’s IN the screen.

  74. Sharon says:

This is very very dangerous. Please do not do this. A Cathode Ray Tube holds a very high voltage even a long time after it is unplugged and powered off. Only highly trained people should attempt to open one up.

Here is some information about it
    http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=759704&seqNum=2

    Please stay safe.

  75. shkoalrac says:

now u tell that crt arent nature friendly

  76. Buckett says:

Anybody else see the fact that the inside top of the case is charred a bit?

  77. Sharon says:

I posted above about this. I’m a A+ Certified Computer Technician. Even in my training we did not take apart monitors. They are DEADLY! Serious! You can be killed from doing something like this. Only someone trained in working with them with the proper tools should even attempt to open one.
