The delete key is on the end of a pencil now too.

  2. tc says:

my favorite part is that it has a “10″ key

  3. anonymous says:

Am I the only one disturbed by the emoticon-looking keys ? (the lower-right group)

  4. Rich says:

Is that a “10″ key I see? WTF?

  5. Paddy says:

What format is that? It sure as hell isn’t QWERTY!

  6. Walt says:

The spacebar is probably set to Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

  7. kiki_birdball says:

that’s not qwerty! what is it? and i want smiley face keys

  8. Allanna says:

what? you mean that the space bar doesn’t say “space” on it??

  9. Pete says:

Its not QUERTY I think is some kind of “GNEBMHIJ” >_<

  10. K says:

Why even bother writing letters if they are all wrong?
Although if you know how to type it doesn’t matter if the letters are on there or not…

  11. Daniel says:

You would think that if you use a keyboard long enough to erase the original labeling, you should have learned the location of the keys (I just typed this without looking at my keyboard, for example)

    • Anna Rexia says:

Dude, it’s a joke. The keys are just sitting on top of their mount locations. That’s why some of them are tilted. Plus, even a touch typist should know where each key belongs. Again, it’s a joke.

      Internets. Serious business.

  12. Pat says:

Sure beats paying $12.99 for a new one!

  13. j616 says:

Maybe we’re missing the point. Maybe there’s a arduino in there that’s processing the keys so they actually input what they say. The 10 key 10, the =) key =) etc. This could be less of a kludge and more a cleaver hack ^-^

  14. Badgirl says:

heythos hoiros jp -whoops, wrong keyboard

  15. Nick says:

People actually pay good money for keyboards like that… Check out http://www.daskeyboard.com/

  16. Hadapurpura says:

Oh! It has keys for “10″ and “12″!

  17. krist0ph3r says:

wow, the comments are better than the keyboard. which is awesome, btw…for a five year old!!!

  18. mighty oaks says:

awesome!! nonconformist keyboard. finally! someone came up with “happy” and “sad” bottons and a crooked one as well.

  19. Stefan says:

It looks like some of those keys are not attached.

  20. Evan says:

At first I thought this was a clever mod for foreign alphabets (like Cyrillic) but turns out it’s just…wait, what IS this anyway?!

  21. I would have given them an “A+” if they had used a Sharpie. An “A” will have to do.

  22. Bard says:

Well it’s easy enough to go into your settings and reassign the values of the different keystrokes… like, really easy. All you gotta do is want to. Maybe the user liked this configuration better than a QWERTY keyboard. Anyway, props to ‘em for whatever reason.

  23. erkkilaron says:

    So much for keystroke hackers?

  24. pflorian says:

I imagine that the developers of the Dvorak keyboard are kicking themselves for not including emoticon keys; it would be the standard by now if they had.

  25. TheAntiCat says:

The QWERTY format was invented to keep typewriters from jamming from people typing too fast right? Maybe this person reassigned the lettering to a faster format. Or it’s for a foreign language? Anyhoo, I think that would make for a decent prank in the cubicle farms. “Dave, what the hell is this?”

    • Anna Rexia says:

When I worked for the state, I was known as the office prankster. I’d sometimes sneak in early and do things such as rearrange keys on a keyboard (twice making them spell Happy Birthday (I saved keys from broken keyboards). One of the most fun pranks was substituting a BSOD graphic in place of the boot screen, and taking a screen shot of someone’s computer desktop, hiding their desktop icons, and substituting the graphic for their desktop background. It made people repeatedly click on the desktop icons, trying to load programs.

      • littleblack says:

Anna, you evil woman, you! :P :D GOTTA try the screenshot gag, that’ll get things going.

      • one small step says:

My son did this to me : – T. He’s the computer genius. I get him back by hiding behind things and scaring him. He tends to live in his own little world and zones out constantly. It’s the only way I can get back at him >: – )

      • TheAntiCat says:

I wound up doing something like that to myself. I had used Screengrab for Firefox to capture a screen. (It was of “Bubba Claus & the Mutant Reindeer.) Not paying attention to what the hell I was doing, I kept clicking on the ‘reply’ button. It was finals week at school. Too tired.

  26. waldo says:

What does SPace mean? Sub Primordal articulated covert entity?

    • Daniel says:

SPace is for Snail Pace. It prevents the user from pressing more than a keystroke every three minutes.

FUnny that I do the DOuble CAps error a lot on a keyboard, but I don’t think it could happen with a pencil.

  27. monkeyslayer56 says:

ahh some of the keys are in the right place =( o well i think enough of them are moved so that those who don’t know how to type can’t use it =D

  28. wa-sho says:

THE NEW WAY OF LEARNING THE LETTERS ON THE KEYBOARD!
just skrape all the letters off, and make the kids memorise as they type!
theill pay THAT much more attention if they have to do the marking themself..
best if yoy give them a waterbased pen, so ittl wear out! they will eager to learn!
you use my idea? its copyrighted.. 1000$ please! :D

    • Anna Rexia says:

You can buy stickers to replace letters on worn keys, as well as sets for foreign languages, so why not just put stickers over the keys to hide the letters? It’d be cheap and wouldn’t damage the keys.

  29. CodeJoust says:

Seriously! It’s not even in the DOVARK format… that’s what I first thought. Probably some person with lots of spare time, and playing with keymapping software?

    • Zapakh says:

It looks more like a child trying to reproduce the QWERTY layout from memory. The way they always sing a mixed-up Alphabet Song at first :)

  30. klutzo says:

Well that helps, I see the ‘Space’ now but where’s that ‘Any’ key they keep asking me to press?

  31. Shimmer says:

^ Nice lol. Seriously though, emoticon keys? How would that WORK in Microsoft Word or Excel or something?!

    • Anna Rexia says:

Key mapping/macros. For example, I rarely use the carat ^ and pipe | characters, so those could be set to, instead, keystroke :) and :p if I wanted. The same goes with the F keys that people normally do not use.

Sorry, I geeked out in this thread.

  32. Bodgeitandscarper says:

The poor man’s optimus maximus keyboard.

  33. ecco6t9 says:

I paid $5 for this keyboard from Wal Mart.

  34. mort says:

I think it’s QWERTY in elf-ish. Worth a fortune for the true couch potato connaisseur.

  35. Aaron B from IL says:

at first, I thought that this was someone trying to learn the Dvorak keyboard style, but abandoned that thought quickly. I have actually tried learning Dvorak before, but with using computers at work and at home both, it was too difficult remembering how to do both.

  36. g says:

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Sorry, just fixing my keyboard. The T key had almost completely faded away!

  37. bubbachuka says:

It’s a low budget polish Enigma

  38. Toni04 says:

Wait. Where’s the “any” key? You know, when the message says “press any key to continue” you need to press… oh never mind.

  39. Virgina says:

Its like a joke I once played on a friends hubby who always “borrows” my computer. His wife and I who are both touch typists laugh at his hunt and peck. One day back when I was still using the old clunker and didn’t care about the keyboard, I pried off the keys and put them in alphabetical order.

  40. one small step says:

Looks like a Scrabble keyboard to me…

  41. Taneer says:

I really am quite fond of the smiley buttons.

  42. Cherry says:

the words are on wrong places, baby

    [keyboard cat for u ]

  43. Goku says:

    There’s a 10 key! No zero, but a 10. That’s pretty handy.

  44. RusFixer says:

Mine looks pretty much like this one, I’m not gonna change it. It’s like shoes worn for three years – fits perfectly ^_^

  45. Siobhan says:

Not even Chuck Norris can argue with this awesomeness.

  46. Ellis says:

THe KEyboard ALl THe ALiens ARe USing NOw.

  47. 1stein says:

she forgot the ” anykey” !

(If windows asks her to press any key…)

  48. cooper says:

THAT HAVE A SMILEY FACE BUTTON!!! WTF!

  49. Jesus McHaggis-fish says:

I think these are the ones in Ikea with nothing on but some idiot always tries to recreate the keyboard with the free pencils
