Lol, I guess when the enconomy gets as bad as it is, even liquids of any sort are expensive..
This looks like something out of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Or better yet, Waterworld.
DUCK TAPE!!!
What’s duck tape?
Oh God, not this argument again!!!!!

There. Duck Tape.
…so…it runs on water right? ‘,:/
After I crashed my car and wrecked the whole front end. I didnt want to go buy a rad to find out the motor had a crack in it so I set this up to test the motor for leaks.
looks like a clever coolant leak test rig.
so did the motor leak after the test?
Nope, so I forked out the cash for a new front endo
I confess, this is not my car but I have done something similar to check out a motor & tranny I needed out of a wreck. This is a quick check for obvious leeks. After this I hooked up a rad to pressure test the motor for the not so obvious crack leaks. Saves a hell of a lot of time takin the motor out of the wreck and putting it into your car only to find out you have a hairline crack in the motor and having to take it back out. Time is money especially if you are paying for it to be done.
Yes, actually that is exactly what happened.
If you see this car a’rocking, refrigerant fluid will be sloshing.
I wish Bebop who posted the photo would post a comment here explaining what he or she was really trying to do. Should be interesting.
So if you slam on the breaks to avoid hitting a pedestrian, not only will you burn the person you were trying not to hit, but you will over heat when all the fluid splashes out and be stuck listening to the screams of your scolded victim?
yes…
Well… not scolded.
Scalded, maybe?
The victim will be scalded; YOU will be scolded.
The world’s first gasoline/hydro/electric hybrid.
The best part? The tree branch holding it all together!
This is a true kludge. Well done.
pat
Is that a tree branch? It looks like the hose that the garden hose replaced.
I think it’s the wiring harness.
It’s not actually a tree branch, it is a hose from some other part of the car. I couldn’t figure out its importance, so I used it and some bungee chords to hold the bucket on.
Oopz dude… u gotta be careful.
license plate: IHZABKT
Looks like someone converted a cash for clunker mobile into a H20 powered garden hose variety. Can we get the same tax credits?
to be the idiot.
If you were doing this to drive it would not work.
a. water would over heat do to not being under pressure. (coolant systems are under pressure to keep the boil point down.)
b.water is not being cooled.
c. bucket would melt.
yet who really cares. It is a lot more interesting than any other cooling system photo.
That doesn’t look all THAT bad, as long as you don’t drive on public streets
Saw pictures once from a competition of Army engineers… how to do the best field repairs on vehicles. The results looked pretty similar to this
I need to confess it is not my car. I saw the photo in a friend’s album and figured the site was designed just for this configuration.
Who are you, tell me on facebook, because you are obviously my friend if you got this picture.
You know me. I took a picture of you taking a picture of me.
Cayenne: ^^See PosterGrandpa’s comment above. It’s not meant to be driven. I think it’s a pretty resourceful way to test and potentially save a ton of cash.
I just hope he doesnt hit any bumps.
or bums.
It’s obviously some sort of plug-in hybrid. Note the jumper cables going from the battery. Now they just need to duct tape some flashlights to the front to make it street legal, although it would probably kick the bucket before it gets anywhere.
I think with all the other great design features that the jumper cables are a little unnecessary, but hey, that’s just me…
The battery was dead because the car had been sitting for almost a year before I got around to this.
How much for the alternator? I need one.
See, now theres your problem.
..
..
your battery has gone dead.
This is simply the new “E-Z Flush” coolant system! Anyone ever had to flush a sealed cooling system? Agh!!!
Just put it out of its misery!
WTF! That’s my car! Who stole this pic from me?
Can I test drive it before I buy it?
I really didn’t understand O_O
Dude, this car has passed on. Let it go. You don’t need a court order to pull the plug.
Who says it’s for the engine? Maybe he just wants a REALLY clean windshield. Buckets of cleanliness.
You know you can get a ticket for not having a front licence plate
Not in our state (oops, I almost named the state)
More likely to get a ticket for a lack of headlights.
It seems a fluzo generator.
This car didn’t just kick the bucket, he took it for a ride!
…and this is how they make Pepper Spray.
How did my reply get here?
I’ve been messing around with too many Firefox Addons…
*shakes fist at that Page Preloader Addon*
Sometimes those Firefoxes like to screw with us. Down with Internet Explorer!!! (The ultimate kludge.)
Walrus sais: THATZ MAH BUKIT!
you know what….maybe it’s a moonshine still built out of a car??//
poor corolla =/
Hey…it’s got good tire…s ?
With the A/C condenser gone, they could totally remove the compressor for weight reduction, maybe shave a couple tenths off at the track! Right?!
Did you know that according to Mythbusters, to make your car 11% more fuel efficient, cover it in 1000lbs of clay and cut golf-ball-like dimples in the clay. It works, and the clay doesn’t fall off (for a while).
That was an awesome episode.
HEY you can pick up your groceries AND make a fresh batch of meth with this car! LOL
I really didn’t understand
I’m sad to say I recognize this car from the engine compartment, it’s a Corolla DX (or LE) with the 1.8L 7AFE from 93-97. Proof that you still can’t kill a good Toyota…
I have a couple of spare flashlights if he happens to need to drive it at night.
At least the tires are decent
you sure this isn’t just a poor mans water heater?
“congratulations doctor, for your first suceesful radiator transplant.”
“thank you, doctor, i couldnt have done it without you”
“ill admit, i was a little nervous when you grabbed the garden hose, but thanks to perserverance, teamwork, and duct tape, i think this patient might even have another hundred miles on him”
“This is our fancy car we, we only take her out on the weekends”
Really????
