    When someone is taking a picture of you while you’re fixing any item in your home – stop immediately and consider what you may have done (or, if lucky, be doing) wrong.

  23. Jon says:

    Note the guy cut off on the left who’s still putting it together. Looks like it’s in a basement, hot and cold water pipes coming down in the top corners, not yet connected. It’s got diagonal bracing, not that rickety. Clearly cobbled together from scrap wood (looks like 2x4s, a 2×6, bunch of 1×4 tongue-and-groove, and a wedge-shaped piece) and not well thought out, but it should withstand light use.

    @JB: You’re horrible.

  24. DIYKing says:

    This beyond shocking, its still sinking in.

  25. JB says:

    @Jon : Will try to do better next time…

    @buduque
    He must be a scout leader!

  27. Marvin says:

    The planking is to align the basin while the plumbing is put in and the pedestal is cemented on.

    The rope is a just-in-case measure to prevent broken basin, broken toes, etc… in event of installer clumsyness.

    Quite sensible, actually, in a very fudged-together way.

  28. rampart says:

    It is almost halloween- this is a scene in the Contractors’s House of Horrors!

  29. P_Buttercup says:

    @DIYKing

  31. Anna Rexia says:

  32. waldo says:

    If he’s trying drill a hole through his finger, shouldn’t it be in front of the board?

  33. says:

    Looks like something Homer Simpson built.

  34. towny says:

    there is nothing wrong with the sink it is the rope towel rack that is the kludge

  35. cj says:

    So, didn’t anyone else grow up with a fix-it-all Dad? My father was an engineer at Boeing but he also liked carpentry and always had to do everything himself. He loved to build, but only on the weekends, so there was always a place in our house that looked like this as I grew up.
