  1. TheAntiCat says:

    Is getting to the lake first really that important?

  2. This is dangerous. When you drive a car with the hatchback open exhaust fumes will be sucked into the back of the car. The people in the car, including the driver, can get carbon monoxide poisoning. This can result in the driver losing consciousness and crashing.

  3. Gargomon says:

    I’m suprised there isnt anyone actually in the boat too.

  4. Colan says:

    @Gargomon

    not yet maybe

  5. Mr Evilwrench says:

    Or somebody sittin in the back of the car, holding the trailer onto whatever they’re considering to be a “hitch”.

  6. dono1 says:

    I can see this model has a boat-load of cargo space.

  7. Mr T. says:

    Shipping the boat.

  8. James says:

    @Mr Evilwrench
    They don’t need that, that’s SOOO last week. They have the tie-down of the future! BUNGEE CORDS!!!

  9. one small step says:

    I decided to ‘bow’ out of this trip, but I did hear from my friend that he got an especially ‘stern’ warning from the cop when he spotted a bottle of ‘port’ on the ‘starboard’ side.

  14. rocketman2tm says:

    Is it just me or does anybody else really want to see them back into the water like that at the dock?

  15. River says:

    At first i thought its faked, but then i realized that the car is actually driving!

    i wonder why there is no duct-tape involved…

  16. Computer Monkey says:

    i wonder how they are keeping it on the latch loop…..

  20. JH says:

    One sudden stop, and the boat’ll be flying!

  21. LdB says:

    My boat goes into the lake in the spring and comes out in the fall. The trailer moves about 100 feet between the boat launch it’s winter parking spot. This idea works for me. :)

  22. gamingkitty says:

    I’m not certain, but I think if this hits a nice big bump the prow of the boat is going through the back windshield.

  23. JMAN says:

    Hey what are you guys takin a boat?

    Exactly. We WANT people like this to die.

    Just wanted to see if this boat was going to make it all the way to the gene pool. Another one in line for the Darwin Awards if they should hit something truly solid (deer, moose, tree, another vehicle). That boat will go straight into the passenger compartment. I’m glad I’m not anywhere near that accident. I’ve seen my (hopefully) one and only beheading aftereffects and it’s very disturbing.

  26. Hesster says:

    It’s actually a Taurus station wagon. The really stupid thing is, it’s a vehicle that is perfectly capable of towing a boat that size safely with the proper trailer hitch.

  27. Daniel says:

    @Hesster
    Yeah but where’s the fun in that?

  28. Jon says:

    @Jeff Lichtman
    Nope, not with the driver’s window open. The airflow is out through the back of the vehicle. Turning on the fan would have the same effect. It’s perfectly safe (at least in that regard).

  29. Jon says:

    It’s not really as dangerous as it looks. The latch hook, like those for the other doors, is quite solidly attached to the frame. They’re designed to not come loose even in a serious crash. The boat is aluminum, small – twelve, maybe 15 feet tops – so it’s well within the rated towing capacity of the car. Only real concern is the strength of the connection between trailer hitch and latch hook.

  30. PolishWizzard says:

    @Jeff Lichtman
    Yeah and an anal infraction of the trailer hitch.

  31. Bogus Exception says:

    How much stuff flies out the back this way? Sure, the boat got there… But wheres the bait!
    :)

  32. gacinator says:

    @PolishWizzard
    anal infraction…?

  33. upper says:

    …at least he left the sub-woofer box in the hatch!
    “Did we loose the boat off the back?”
    “Naw baby, that’s just my subs bumpin…”

  34. Ducttapemaster says:

    If you took off the hatch on the car and duct taped some metal or better yet some plywood in that opening this thing would be an excellent boat launcher. Just apply sudden braking.

  35. mike says:

    I think this is faked, as the car does seem to be moving. From personal experience I can tell you as soon as the car gets any real speed the wind resistance pushes the open hatchback/trunk lid/station wagon door etc. down. This door seems to be wide open and I don’t even see anything wedged in there to hold it up.

  36. max says:

    If nautical nonsense be somethin’ you wish, then put the tongue on the bumper and forget the hitch

  37. towny says:

    he just got tired of people stealing his trailer hitch so now he mounts it inside the car

  38. Jigglethehandle says:

    Everyone is assuming the car is PULLING the boat. Perhaps the boat is PUSHING the car. Nice multipurpose trick: the tailgate wiper doubles as a windshield wiper for the boat.
