wow….
To be fair, that slope may be steeper than it appears. Camera angles can be tricky.
I don’t get it. What it it supposed to be? A kind of platform on rails with lawn chairs on it? Does it go up by itself?
@SCAScot
Yeah, The water could possibly be on a 45 degree angle and their traveling across flat ground
is this a pulley system? i cannot tell. somebody has to be expending the displaced energy.
or one of them could be seriously ill and unable to climb the hill…..
i sure hope it’s a mechanical device and there isn’t some poor person at the top pulling for all he’s worth….. and if there is; i hope he’s well paid.
Bet that’d be a wild ride if the rope broke…
I wonder who or what is pulling that rope.
We don’t consider people lazy for using a ski lift.
Bubba…ya’ sure this is how they do the loosh thingy?
They were actually being towed behind a boat until it hit dry land. It really chewed up the terrain, didn’t it?
Very common at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. The terrain is VERY steep, and it can be a long way up to the cabin.
And that is exactly where I’ve seen these… “lake front” property might be on a cliff, so people have these put in.
Most of them are stronger looking. 0o
All I see is awesome here.
@Gargomon
Funny, funny. Actually, even with the flat camera angle, you can tell it is a steep climb. See the board on the water and compare with the board they are riding. The one they are riding is almost on profile where you can see a lot of the top of the one in the water.
When I first saw this I thought both those guys were each pulling on something (but not a rope).
I wish I could make my very own incline railway.
They have these over on the west coast too. The houses from the back door to the dock can be very steep – some even steeper than at a ski resort.
That is one hell of a pee spot in the water.
This kind of lift system is pretty common in northeast Brasil on dune-related tourist attractions. It is a pulley system that lifts the tourists from the bottom of the dunes to the top (pretty much the same principle o a ski lift). They are powered by a motor, almost always a combustion one, cause these sites are usually in quite remote locations often not reached by regular power grid.
If you look at the plane of the water you can tell how steep the incline is.
There has to be some awesomely slapped together winch at the top driving this thing.
It’s a kind of an elevator that brings the tourist to the top of the mountain. They go down sliding on a board. It’s a sand mountain at Natal city, Brazil. It’s very funny. This elevator works with a car engine.
Win!
Eww. Speedos. That kinda killed it for me.
Gotta….get…..this……picture……out……of……..my……..MIND……. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Where is the kludge? It looks like it was made this way, no?
I think i saw something like this on the second season of Jackass. The little bumper at the bottom isn’t going to stop them if they break loose. I am not a fan of helmet laws, but in this case, i think a full coverage helmet might prevent some major dental bills. There will be enough sand rash to make a skateboarder wince.
@Dyogo
Yeah,I’ve ridden it too. Its a stop on the dune buggy trip. They have an old VW bug at the top of the hill. Its used pull you out after riding a zipline into the water.
If you think this is the worst part of the ride, you´re wrong. It is called ‘Skibunda’, and it is in city of Natal, Brazil. People jump supported by ropes in this lake, over 50 meters high and return by the little car in this photo. Very, very, very old ropes and no security at all.
I thought it was Natal, I went there a while ago and did this, it was great… there should be some pictures of the machinery at the top though, that was the real genius, all those bashed up VW beetles powering the zip lines. Great fun… especially when you do the whole buggy ride over the dunes.
These men are resisting the maxim that crap runs downhill.
that’s sad..but thinking that this is here in brazil..it’s even more sad..
