Copy & paste this:

That’s actually quite neat – I would even buy something like that, though perhaps for the garden and not the kitchen sink.
Ah, the farmer look. It is actually not a bad job at all.
Hey photographer, scroll over a bit! I want to see what they made the toilet out of.
When you turn the tap. Acid comes out.
No, I like it. nice and high, water output in the center of the utility tub. I’ll be first to say: WIN.
Those are brand new, full flow ball valves. They aren’t cheaper than a regular faucet. They let the water flow smoothly and unimpeded. They also don’t clog up with lime and scale.
The owner of this sink probably has a well pump that produces relatively low pressure, and rather hard water.
Mr. Farmer here has saved money by making the faucet work well with what he has, rather than spending hundreds of dollars on a water softener and thousands on an upgrade to his well.
What’s wrong with that? That’s elegant in its simplicity. And I bet hose ball valves last a hell of a lot longer than the average $20 made in China faucet you’re going to get for a work sink. They’re even nice solder joints. Excellent. I might go home and put this in my bathroom. That cheesey faucet I put in there didn’t even last a month.
I rather like it!!!
the homemade look
I think this is a great design. Very efficient.
… though I am rather worried about the jacuzzi on the right…
Is that a pump hose on the right? Does this sink not have a proper drain either?
it’s a standard work sink. The tube is the eject from a washing machine.
@Tym
That’s probably the drain from the washing machine. This is a washtub we are looking at here. Probably also the only out pipe in the room, so they drain the washer into it.
Looks a bit steampunk-like with the copper tubing. Rather nice.
It looks like the cold water valve has a leak as the wood panelled countertop is wet.
No leaks. The faucet is sound. The water is from over zealous testing resulting in water flying everywhere.
That’s modern looking setup… for eastern Europe!
That photo is from Instructables.com. The builder wanted something better for his utility sink than the cheap, crappy utility faucets you find at the big box stores.
I’m not sure this qualifies as a “kludge”, or that it’s even funny for that matter. Next image, please.
So how do you shut the HOT off (assuming the hot is on the left) without scalding your arm as you reach for the handle?
Left handed people are in a large minority. I designed it to help even the odds.
“It aint no still, Sheriff.”
this is actually from the Instructables website:

Don’t for get the wet vac drain
“Probably also the only out pipe in the room, so they drain the washer into it.”
Plus, I think code requires an air-gap for washing tub drains, and this is an easy way to achieve that.
Been replacing all the cutoff valves in my house with ball valves, but never went this far.
PolishWizza… you turn the hot on and off with your left hand.
@PolishWizzard
Easy fix, just take the nut loose and rotate the handle so it points outward.
Lighten up, Evan. I’m sure you have a whole set of these at your house, but most folks don’t.
That’s the laundry drain. It’s pretty common to drain a washing machine into a laundry tub– that way if the drain isn’t keeping up for some reason it can buffer in the tub and drain at it’s own pace (vs. running all over the floor if you’re draining into a standpipe)
I thought the hose was from a super powerful wet\dry vac. Homemade jacuzzi anyone?
ROFL
It may be fitting for a laundry tub but it lacks elbow room. I hate to throw a wrench into the works but I just plumb wouldn’t sink money into this washed up idea.
By the way, I miss Farrah Fawcett.
(it’s too soon, isn’t it?)
I think this is an awesome idea. I was lucky enough to get a utility sink for free in my garage (that’s some rare luck for me). However, if I hadn’t I would totally do this.
And yes, it’s a laundry drain.
the price of a bathtub faucet has sky rocketed
All of those parts are doing exactly what they are designed to do, and appear to have been skillfully installed. The only possible issue is aesthetics, but for crying out loud, it’s a laundry tub. Please don’t pull an “Awkward Family Photos” on us!
@lamezorz
Or at least until someone tries to put a bucket in the sink and snaps off that fixed spigot.
RAmen to that! The same goes for a number of picture sites lately.
just a well-done fix. Now with sense and simplicity!
For once, “There, I fixed it!” is true for this.
the dude built his own sink for a laundry room. i think this pretty neat.
I remember seeing this on instructables a while back – the build was much more complicated than simply jamming some pipes together.
Aww, reminds me of Iraq. I’m getting all nostalgic…
(slapping forehead) And here I just went and spent all that money on a new kitchen faucet.
Is the vacuum hose the drain mechanism?
Looks a bit as a steampunk-fan’s masterpiece…:)
Current Cost

$-4.73 /without check vales
thats actually a really good job. perfect for a utility sink. my guess is that it’s in a garage or basement as there is a washer dreain hose running into it. I classify this as win.
This is my instructable. I am so overjoyed to find it here. This website isn’t just full of great ideas it’s a guide book on how to live life. If I could do half of these things I see here I would consider myself a luckey man.*

It may seem sarcastic, and I assure you I am a sarcastic man but this statement is sincere. I haven’t laughed this hard in weeks.
The dude can solder like a demon!
Who makes this?
I will make that because it is very cool.
