Nah, just some hearty north woods types waiting for the water to freeze, then they pop the wheels off and instant ice fishing house. Early planning that’s all.
Reminds me of a song I learned in grade school: A capital ship for an ocean trip was the Walloping Window Blind. No wind that blew dismayed her crew or troubled the captain’s mind. The man at the wheel was made to feel contempt for the wildest blo-o-ow, though it oft appeared when the storm had cleared that he’d been in his bunk below.
I am telling myself they are simply towing it to an island where they have property, the trailer is to be a summer cabin. Yup, that’s what I want to believe.
Actually, that looks like the harbor area between Duluth, Mn and Superior, WI – looks like SOMEONE is chasing down his/her favreite QB. That camper is sweet tailgatin’.
@Anna R
Anna, I have GOT to get an original full-resolution image of this. Can you make one available somewhere? It’s sort of an inside joke, but it would make a perfect Christmas card here…
Not photoshopped. Also not real. It’s a set piece from a public theatre piece called “Fous de Bassin” (Water Fools), by the French company Ilotopie, which was performed at the east end of Navy Pier in August. In addition to the camper, they had a car, a bicycle, a bed, a tree, and a lot of boats. http://www.ilotopie.com
It’s a long story, unfortunately, but suffice it to say that trailers with a boating theme have some significance going back many, many years and have appeared on more than a few Christmas cards in that time. This scores BIG points with my wife and mother-in-law!
Anna: The only possible reason I can think of this being like this was for Venetian night and the trailer was one of the entries… is that right or was it just random?
Is that thing floating on plastic milk jugs?
Jesus!
I hope they don’t get that ‘boat a rockin’, otherwise they are going to feel the ‘motion of the ocean’.
The budget ferry.
nah
u got it all wrong. there was massive global warming and teh zombie outpost (http://thereifixedit.com/2009/06/10/epic-kludge-photo-zombie-scouting-post/) got flooded =P
Trollin’ for trailers,
or
Bill, don’t look behind you, I think we’re being followed.
A rising tide will throw crap in this game.
Aaah… a floating-tin-box built for two…
That was my first thought, too. That must be Jesus camping for the little camper to walk on water like that.
Looks like they are trying to ford the river. They should have hired an indian.
Neil Young inspired…

@Tom
That was BLOODY HILLARIOUS man
Where is Dono1? Waiting for the witty comment – it’s making me itchy.
This is obviously photoshopped– right?
Xtreme camping.
@Nick
Oregon Trail FTW
Whazza matta? Never seen a house boat before?
… is somebody trying to tow a trailer to Venice? Cause that’s what it looks like.
I hope the wheels are secured, otherwise it’ll be a case of ‘Speed up! *splash*’
only in Holland …
Water skiing for those with hydrophobia.

Actuall, it looks like New London CT
Yankee inginuity.
Hi guys. I took this picture, and it’s just off of Navy Pier in Chicago. And no, not photoshopped.
It would be kind of sweet to have a trailer on a sandbar, at least that is kind of what it looks like to me.
@Anna R
You should have thrown a popcorn in the water and make that thing capsize with the resulting wave. Would have made a more dramatic photo.

I knew it was chicago. i feel like a winner today. But now i’m even more confused. How and why would that be in lake michigan?

@Bill Cook
Hey Bill, I’ve made the photo available for download here:
http://drop.io/boatforbill
And the guest password is “guest”.
I’m sorry to hear from Jennetj that it was only part of a theater production…but glad to know no one actually travels in something that dangerous!
It’s a Boatel (boat-tel)
Thanks, Anna R!

not a kluge but interesting none the less
Jesus built my houseboat.
reminds me of an episode of viva la bam, i believe it was in season 4 when Raab pushed Dunns camper into a river.
Jesus got re-incarnated. AGAIN.
Someone took “Campin’ out on the lake” a bit too seriously.
