we have a huge entertainment system in our house, with “universal” remotes for each individual piece of equipment, so each remote is huge. Since they’re all from different companies, though, we can’t program any of the remotes to work with any of the other machines. Believe me, I’ve tried. So any time we need to change the volume, it starts a frantic search for “the remote with the joystick in the middle of it” which controls the TV volume, etc.

This is a great idea I am going to implement this afternoon!

The front of it looks pretty tidy compared to the back, which I think is embarrassing; hopefully guests will never have to see it. I would duct tape it to the coffee table to prevent that. I wonder if that thick rope makes it hard to push some of the buttons?

Haha… We used to have something similar that my dad made back in the late 80s. It was a piece of plywood with velcro fastners for the TV, VCR and satellite box (we used to have one of those enormous backyard satellite dishes when back then).
