I like the fourth (unused) slot. Shows concern for extensibility. Who knows, he may buy a stereo, or an air conditioner, and his universal-remote platform will be ready to expand.
Just so you know, my husband thinks this spot is better than an infomercial for that ladder that can be configured as a stretcher when it comes to good advice. Many of the pictures you post were actually taken in my actual house. So thanks for that!
Watch out Harmony, this entrepreneur aims to put you out of business. The patented interchangeable remote lashing system guarantees functionality with any future devices.
I have the middle remote! It’s for an AIWA stereo! lol… I’m pretty sure that first remote can be used as a universal remote (assuming the kludger can program it)
I would have use duct tape or industrial velcro but this remote ‘knitting’ reminds me of arts and craft in elementary school. After the pottery ashtray of course! Good kludge.
Um, am I missing something? Why the elaborate ties at the bottom? Why not create straps that are short enough that they don’t need to be wrapped around metal hooks at the bottom of the board?
I like this idea!! My kids are always losing our remotes. In fact right now the one to my DVD/VCR is missing. They are bad about stealing the remote from the living room for Directv and taking it to their room too when they can’t find theirs.
I need someway to leash them together and to something big so the kids will stop losing them!!
I just don’t get it. He obviously doesn’t want to use any sort of permnanent fasteners…or even something like tape that might mar the natural beauty of the remotes. But string?? Hardly seems very secure. A good whack I bet those remotes would go flying outta there.
We always employed the gas station bathroom key strategy to prevent remotes from getting lost. A remote duct taped to a cinder block doesn’t fit beneath the couch cushions very well.
Haha… We used to have something similar that my dad made back in the late 80s. It was a piece of plywood with velcro fastners for the TV, VCR and satellite box (we used to have one of those enormous backyard satellite dishes when back then).
The front of it looks pretty tidy compared to the back, which I think is embarrassing; hopefully guests will never have to see it. I would duct tape it to the coffee table to prevent that. I wonder if that think rope makes it hard to push some of the buttons?

we have a huge entertainment system in our house, with “universal” remotes for each individual piece of equipment, so each remote is huge. Since they’re all from different companies, though, we can’t program any of the remotes to work with any of the other machines. Believe me, I’ve tried. So any time we need to change the volume, it starts a frantic search for “the remote with the joystick in the middle of it” which controls the TV volume, etc.
This is a great idea I am going to implement this afternoon!

Ingenious, until you have to change a battery.
Wow! Thats the biggest one yet!
Eyarrr, dog the hatches and lash the remotes laddies, we’re about ta find out what channel surfing really means!

WIN!!! You make me proud Paddy. Very proud.

Am I wrong to think this looks like a good idea?
No chance of losing this bad boy between the sofa cushions.
This is when “throw over the remote, please” becomes life threatening *clonk! aaaargh!*
Kinky shibari remote. Did it really need four cleats?!?
I haven’t seen work like this since I helped an impatient 5 year old free his Christmas toy from is packaging bondage.
Must be fun when the batteries die on one of them.
The fourth slot is for the Wii-mote to prevent tv breakage…good luck aiming a “crossbow” with that chunk of wood though.

This must have been before they invented “elastic” or “Velcro”.
@chuck
of course it needed 4 cleats, if you have to replace batteries in unit #2, you don’t wanna have to go and untie them all
I am SO doing that.
“Ingenious, until you have to change a battery.”
Nah – that’s why they tied it instead of using aussie bolts.
Did the creator take a photo of the under-side just to submit it to this site?
LOL well as one that loses the remote often I can`t help but think this is a good idea gone wrong.
Looks like the things from school here
That’s what she said.
(sorry folks)
Sorry, but I like my Harmony better.
@Double AA
I have the same remote in the middle, but it is a Panasonic TV.
Shiver me timbers! This is ridiculous.
Why is the back so messy? Do the cords really need to tangle so much?
I, um… just used velcro… it worked fine.
The Re-monster will be jealous…
Wasn’t impressed til i noticed the boat cleats. Beautiful.
We used to tape the remotes to the barcalounger arms.

This was SO a highschool teacher, wasn’t it?

“Mark, the Megatron doesn’t say ‘Urban Freewheeler’ – it says ‘Sofa Masturbator’”
<3 Peep Show.
Now just tag on a guide and my mom will FINALLY be able to find her shows.
“Honey, toss me the remote board.”
Well, the Hotel had to do something about the remote thieves.
Clearly, this person was never a boy scout–nor have they ever done cross-stitch. The back is so messy!
“What do you mean, you lost >all< the remotes? How can you lose all of them??"
