At first, looking at that ancient Apple, I thought this was a really old picture. Then I noticed the optical mouse and the modern PC tower below the desk, and I realized it’s just a really good office prank. My hat’s off to them.
not to mention the playstation 3 on the window ledge…
Oh my word! Look at that MAC! That’s a circa 1980-something Mac! I used to type up my elementary school reports on one of those things and I thought I was so high-tech back then! HA!!
1984
Caution: not suitable for reclining!
Also it suits the dinosaur Mac II on the desk!
Look at the nice new computer.
He’s just doing his part for a greener planet!
@KittyPorn
looks white to me.
interesting that he’s main computer is a mac classic but he also has a ps3, work < play
I am confused…. Why has he got a way-to-old-to-be-useful Mac, and a new Logitech mouse sitting next to it? Hmmm…
That’s a Microsoft 5 button, I’m rocking the same one. Great for gaming…especially Oregon Trail.
King of the Castle! King of the Castle! Looks like he’s recycling an old Mac too.
nice computer!
@Matt Kendrick
Argh! you stole my comment!
@Daniel
There is a bit of blue as well.
I love that there is a classic mac on the desk and a PS3 on the right.
Even considering it is going to go to pieces when he leans against the chair back, I think the Epic Fail here is the dinomacasuarus on he’s using!
Notice the old Macintosh on the desk.
really? i wouldn’t have been able to tell from the other comments thank you so much!
Staged there-I-fixed-its aren’t that funny. Even the Mac is obviously staged (look at the forgotten modern mouse)
My god look at that old apple that is being used. Is this an old picture ?
@Rampart
I think as long as there is tape on the other side, too, they might not fall. But, as for fixing that computer monitor…yikes! When was this taken? 1989?
Shit! That has to get really warm o_O
What about adding a bubble wrap seat cushion for extra comfort?
@Rampart
Perhaps you can explain what dinomacasuarus is.
Personally I’d prefer submissions to be usefull, the chair looks good, but obviously unusable.
The Macintosh Classic series computer is out of place, given the Microsoft optical mouse also on the table puts this firmly in the USB era of computing.
That is a dinomacasourus! Curious if it’s a fossil or a living specimen.
@J Rampart was refering to the “Dino-MAC-asaurus” as for the Apple II sitting on the desk. (At least I think it’s an Apple II)
Actually macintosh Classic from 1993
@J
The 512kb Mac Plus or whatever it is sitting on the desk in the picture. Maybe it’s just a real, REAL old (as in, 1980s) photo.
@LeMiffe
Mac II ?
The foam ends are from the new PCs that have been unpacked- this user simply prefers Mac ’88 to PC ’09.
Plus there’s a PS3 on the windowsill.
This is a newer photo because on the right is the same Cisco phone that is sitting on my desk. Not sure why anyone would have that mac still set up!
“Now is not a good time to talk. Can’t you see I’m on the foam?”
@dono – without the picture as context that sounds a little wrong…
Even if it doesn’t go to pieces when he leans back (out of some miracle or insane kludge), it’ll tip over. That is, unless there’s a pretty hefty counterweight in the front of the chair somewhere.
I’d hate to hear the squeeking styrofoam everytime he moves or wiggles on that chair
At high tide, this is the perfect seat for Bob.
I bet there’s several companies in town, or gov agencies that are using a computer that old RIGHT NOW. I’ve been asked to create modern apps on antiques like that—–riiiight.
That golden oldie brings back memories of grade school. I learned my addition and subtraction from some program with a cartoon whale that was on a massive floppy disk. Ahh, the nostalgia…
recycle != reuse
OMG! A new Mac! Quick to the Apple Store!
WOOT! to the 9″ Macintosh! I absolutely adore them.
These days, I’m using them for art. I’ve created a full-screen clock application that is self-contained on a floppy. http://www.jovino.com/journal.php?pg=macPlusClock
I’ve also started making scribblers, which are kinda like oscilloscopes that you pump sound into for a visualizer. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jovino/3760648806/
Drop me a line if y’all are interested in one.
Come on, sit in and lay back, ups…
With the exception of not being able to recline — it might actually be pretty comfortable once it’s molded to the user’s butt.
‘Hmmmm Facebook seems to be down for matinance….Do some work or make a styrofoam chair…tough one!’
@dono1 – do you read Terry Pratchett? You puns are that awesomely awful
That kind of thinking will get you far in this site.
also notice the PS3 in the window
I love the Mac Classic set up there… brings back some great memories.
painters tape?….arf!
Old macs are cool… I just wish I could find someone to network with and play bolo
I hate to think of the effects ass sweat would have on that.
There is a simple explanation here, and it’s the same sort of economical hardship that’s happening everywhere: his small company had no remaining budget for new office furniture so, when his chair broke, he had to improvise. (Yeah, that’s the ticket.)
@J
A dinomacasuarus is english for boat anchor.
Or he actually bought that dinosaur for the original price and was bankrupt ever since.
This has all the earmarks of a “Jeff left for vacation and we decided to f**k with his cubicle while he was gone” prank. How else could you explain the Mac and the PS3, styrofoam chair and terrible smell? Alright, you can’t SEE the smell…but I bet it’s there.
@Mgr. City
o rly?
When I grow up…I’m going to make giant Legos!
So who will be the first to test the back support on this thing???
@The Cat
Ass sweat + bubble wrap = epic win in the office
@jovino the friggin OS for those Macs fit on a floppy!
computer win
@aL
Where do you see a PS3?? im so lost
…i want that chair…. lol ^_^
O I love arts and crafts time at work. The next chair will be made of noodles;)
Thats a Mac SE guys. I actually have one in my closet. It’s a black and white screen also. Also, noisy as hell when it boots up. And if im not mistaken, the styrofoam pieces the chair is made of are the packaging that desktop computer cases come in.
To All The People Talking About The Mac:
It is a Mac Classic II. Made between 1992-1993. It’s not called the SE. I got the same one. 512 x 384 px Monochrome screen, very nice system.
lego gone wrong
I’m wondering how this could have been a 1980s photo… it doesn’t appear scanned, and I’m sure digital photography wasn’t really around at the time. It may have been invented but wasn’t at all popular, and probably not available to the general public at all if it was. I dunno the actual history of it, but I’m sure I never heard of digital photos until at LEAST the late 90s, if not later.
This looks like an initiation test for unpaid interns at design firm…
I do not even want to imagine the eardrum-busting,suicide-inducing, Styrofoam-on-Styrofoam sound that chair would make when someone sits on it. I’m dieing a little inside just thinking about it.
