Going To Narnia, BRB UPDATE: CONTEST TIME!

Epic-Kludge-Photo-GoingToNarniaBRB
Submitted By: Zoe K

The Narnia door has sparked a lot of comments about the contents of the other side. Which has given me a great idea. Since it’s Friday AND we haven’t done a photoshop contest in a while, I challenge you to ThereIFixedIt:Imagination Edition *insert rainbows here*. Break out the image editing software you’ve “acquired” and let me know what you see once you climb that curiously unstable looking chair.

What’s on the other side of this door? Is it a magical land, a level of hell or merely a closet full of Grandma’s old Vaudeville costumes? Only YOU can decide.

As per usual, send your contest entries to <a href="thereifixedit+contest3@gmail.com and to avoid it getting lost in the spam filter, please put “Contest Entry” somewhere in the subject line. Winners will be announced Monday around Noon-ish with a gallery of ALL entries to follow later.

  1. anna says:

    I know the door’s not in the right place, but where ELSE was I supposed to put the air-conditioning vent??

  2. Daniel says:

    My favorite photo in a long time. Nothing says “we are not even trying to pretend” like leaving a chair next to an off-height door.

  3. Badgirl says:

    Did I just wet myself?

  4. paulie3sticks says:

    This is a thereifixedit-fail. The door is there to allow access to the furnace which is located above the vent. The chair is just next to the door. It’s not a “fix”.

  5. nanshi says:

    Is there a chair on the other side?

    Otherwise, it wouldn’t really be “fixed” 8D

  6. JennyLou says:

    This totally belongs in Being John Malkovich, not the LW&W. Watch that first step – it’s a doozy!

  7. amnyonmoose says:

    It’s at the same height as a window. I shutter to think of its purpose.

  8. kamathln says:

    err.. This could just be a closet?

  9. Dan Jammin says:

    Reminds me more of Pan’s Labyrinth. I’ll bet someone just drew that door in with chalk.

  10. Dan Jammin says:

    Also, I just noticed. Look at the legs of that chair. Looks like they picked one of the least stable pieces of furniture possible for this.

    I gotta remember to check failblog in a week or so to watch someone get seriously hurt trying to get in/out of this place.

  11. Clint Epps says:

    Thats Alice in Wonderland stuff – Absolute class. Which country is this from?

  12. Badgirl says:

    Seriously, look at that chair, is this in a school? Does that door lead out of the detention room?

  13. Person says:

    I guess I’ll be the one to say it: “Watch that first step, it’s a real doozy.”

  14. Kyle says:

    “Great thinking sir! Now the little 1st graders can’t sneak into the teacher’s lounge!”

  15. Rampart says:

    Down the rabbit hole, or maybe one of its passages.

  16. Monty says:

    The titles makes it sooo much more funny!

  17. Derelict says:

    Went through all the trouble to finish the door-frame and trim perfectly, yet couldn’t be bothered to supply a couple of steps up to the door.

    Love it!

  18. Josef says:

    Good architects are rare, arnt they? :-)

  19. dono1 says:

    This one really raises the threshold for kludges.

  20. J3ff says:

    I wonder if there is a matching chair on teh other side of the door?

  21. blades says:

    Oddly my grandmother has a door like this in her house to her garage attic, what makes it even better is you need a ladder to get into it, AND its on the stairs!

  22. foobella says:

    @JennyLou Dang it! You stole my exact thought! =)

  23. Daniel says:

    Josef :
    Good architects are rare, arnt they?

    Yes, but this one was well done.

  24. MichelleChefNYC says:

    This looks like a big time photoshop to me… but still funny none the less…

  25. Grep Agni says:

    @paulie3sticks
    That’s not a vent. It’s a steam radiator. Since one of the advantages of steam heat is that the energy can be moved over fairly long distances, there is no reason at all to put the radiator directly in front of the furnace.

  26. That looks so poorly photoshopped it’s painful. The shadows don’t even line up with the light sources.

  27. Uh Oh says:

    @Grep Agni
    To me it looks like a rather poorly inserted picture of a radiator (i.e. the perspective is way off)….this picture is more appropriate for Photoshopdisasters.com

  28. Paddy says:

    Good grief.

    @Uh Oh

  29. Raptor Jesus says:

    My entry is in, can’t wait to see who wins…

  30. JH says:

    Its the health and safety version of villainous leader’s ‘disposal’ door.

  31. maurice says:

    the skirting boards are much too close to the radiator, they are liable to warp, a silly person to design that

  32. Gilly says:

    It takes you right into John Malchovich’s head. “And after about fifteen minutes, you’re spit out into a ditch on the NJ Turnpike!”

  33. Rampart says:

    @JOEE…
    ROX There is absolutely nothing in the image to suggest that this photo is taken at a location in the USA. The definition of an idiot is someone who is foolish or without sense. Your assumption indicates you meet that definition

  34. Tao says:

    Soooo PhotoShopped…..
    They haven’t even bothered to finishs brushing in the blend of the ‘radiator’ to the skirting board on the floor…. … This is just too ridiculous… why don’t the peeps who enter these PS images just enter the PS competitions? or join worth 1000 – and lose!

  35. Really? says:

    @Tao
    Not even close to PSd. you people crack me up. You use PS (probably not very well) and so you think that other people like wasting their time doing the same thing you do. Since you can’t possibly imagine this actually existing, you decide that it MUST fit into your reality. The door opens to a water heater or some such, which is irrelevant because the placement of the chair leads you to believe otherwise. It’s a hilarious idea, and well done.

  36. A says:

    I can shed some light on this. The door (I think) is found at Haringey Magistrates Court in North London. I have been there a few times, and I can tell you that when you walk from the cells to one of the courtrooms in the secure passage way you pass this door. The door was once access for the magistrates to enter and leave the court, but they moved things around and left the door. The door is locked from the other side, and on the other side you will find a court room.

  37. Cowboy says:

    Yes Officer, this is where I keep my mother-in-law!

  38. Andrei says:

    I’ve seen this picture on one of the Russian sites – it had a gallery of this funny pics taken in Russia.
    You can also tell it by that green chair – those are commonly used in Russian schools. :)
