I empathize with the folks who are sad when they see this, but I’m personally inspired. Yes, it appears that this kid doesn’t have the same advantages many of us have. But he’s not getting bogged down in what others have that he doesn’t…he’s taking the resources he has and engineering solutions that make life better. An entrepreneur in training.
Why is it so sad I bet the kid is just happy to have a bike to ride and I bet he is proud of himself for making it work. I agree dono’s comments are always the best.
Sad, yes, Inspiring, definitely. I applaud all the kids and adults the world over who make the most with the least. If it is in a third world country I bet this guy is the envy of most of those around him. There are fixers everywhere!
I hope this will some US Army privates in Afghanistan think… and bring food, water, tools, ….. and some bike parts to the local people to help them instead bringing guns and ammo… ;-( btw this pic is proof that the world is doomed and rotten
I hope he doesn’t hit that front brake too hard. Maybe it’s there for psychological support. I wonder how big a pot hole that front wheel is rated for?
Talk about tread wear! In a couple more miles, he’ll be down to a bolt in the front and some spokes in the rear.
Hey they finally posted one I sent in.
The steering has to be horrible!
This is almost walking but with a piece of metal dangling between your legs. You cannot have less of a bike.
Life in the ghetto ain’t easy
It’s an exercise bike- an exercise in futility.
I’ll say it again: some kid is gonna be mad when he finds out the wheel off his TONKA truck has been swiped.
Usually this site entertains me. I find this image very depressing.
I feel really bad for the kid. You have to really, realy want to ride a bike to deal with that for a front tire and a metal rim for a back tire.
Wow, great “downhill” bike – specially the brakes system
This is waaaay more than no bike at all.
call me i have a smaler one for you
Now, here is a guy with NO money!
i think its really more sad than funny…
“And for only 60 cents a day, you could provide this lovable child with enough duct tape to…”
Who says size matters?
The Tour de france was rough on the riders this year!
i see an epic crash coming if he goes down a hill
…with the front wheel getting stuck in a manhole crack
That is just sad
Don’t be so depressed- he’s probably a PRO BMX rider and he’s about to make $100,000 off of this stunt, appropriately called “The Pinwheel”.
Uh, sick to the power of rad?
that was photoshopped
What happens when he uses the handlebar brakes? Invisible traction with invisible tire?
All right the kid gets pats and is gonna be an engineer someday. I’m rootin for him.
After the front wheel was stolen, he spent so much time on the back that the tyre just disappeared…
I’m just impressed he can actually ride it at all!
As if it wasn’t hard enough to ride, he goes and wears wellies
Dono – you make life worth living. Carry on.

Or A Man determined to get to WORK one way or another
Why is it so sad I bet the kid is just happy to have a bike to ride and I bet he is proud of himself for making it work. I agree dono’s comments are always the best.
@anonoonymoouyonymoose
You see those rubber boot breaks – they always work the best
Makes sense. Much easier to ride because it’s always going downhill.
That’s my bike! I’ve been robbed! It used to be a lot of fun on Skeggy beach and Lindum Hill- I want it back.
Sad, yes, Inspiring, definitely. I applaud all the kids and adults the world over who make the most with the least. If it is in a third world country I bet this guy is the envy of most of those around him. There are fixers everywhere!
I dunno… I think this “Pimp My Ride” thing has gone too far…
It’s just a new twist on the old penny farthing bicycle (the 1900ish bike with the huge front wheel and tiny back while).
*wheel, sorry, haven’t slept
He should put a grocery cart on the front!
Paddy – now you’re talking – send him the directions, then send him a grocery cart!
A few posters have pointed out the lack of brakes; however, I don’t see this bike getting going fast enough for that to be much of a problem…
I hope this will some US Army privates in Afghanistan think… and bring food, water, tools, ….. and some bike parts to the local people to help them instead bringing guns and ammo… ;-( btw this pic is proof that the world is doomed and rotten
This reminds me of the time i saw a two kids playing street hockey with two brooms and a roll of electrical tape.
OMG! he doesnt have a tire in the back wheel =O=O
He must want to ride real bad
WHO NEEDS TWO TRAINING WHEELS ANYWAY?? LOL
Pop a wheelie = bust a move (and a lip!)
The burnouts at night are spectacular to see though……
Look ma! No brakes!
I hope he doesn’t hit that front brake too hard. Maybe it’s there for psychological support. I wonder how big a pot hole that front wheel is rated for?
the thing is,while your thinking about the small front wheel, some dont notice,NO BACK TIRE!
