What you need to understand is that while yes, it is a BMW, the owner is a thrifty bastard, who did not have any pancakes or burgers until my spatula was returned.
just wondering, whats the point of knowing where(and how) to get to a place if you cant see whats front of you, at least most of whats directly in front?
Looks to me that it is just in the height of eyesight. though im no expert, nor rider.

Awesome! I’m famous on teh internets!! That’s my handiwork.
Ouch, dude… I hope you like having the blade end of a spatula piecing right through your visor and into your eyes in case of mishap, then.
/new rider on Honda CG125
/bike cost 6% what yours did but I still wouldn’t penny-pinch THAT hard
/even though i’m probably going to use duct tape to repurpose an in-car phone holder when my new GPS-tacular cellphone arrives

Bike screens are more for deflecting wind off your body/helmet than looking through – made of scratch-happy plastics and have no wipers, for a start (some smaller ones are actually opaque) – so it wouldn’t be that much of an issue unless you’re skirting a complicated set of potholes at low speed. With mine, at least, I find the regular instruments are quite a long way down out of the usual line of sight (sort of like having them in the middle of the steering wheel), and checking them involves looking largely away from the road for a fraction of a second. Something you may need to look at for a little longer would indeed be better mounted higher up (in this case, it’s like the typical position of a dashboard-top car nav). Plus it’s quite small so it’s not really going to take up more than a couple degrees of your forward view, the photo exaggerates its apparent hugeness.
More bothered about the *physical* safety in this case.
(still, wouldn’t one that speaks the instructions and has bluetooth so you can keep it in your pocket and just listen thru an in-helmet earpiece be a better idea all round? very much considering that meself)
I think it’s awesome. I love it.
Great piece of ingenuity/engineering.
Americans need to travel a lot more to underdeveloped countries to really understand why and how people have to solve problems using what they have handy or in the trash.
By the model of the Garming gps he doesn’t need to spend $90 on a “real mount”
Well, he won’t be making burgers any time soon. But, now he won’t get lost go to buy the meat.
you’ve never used sat nav have you?
Can I have a side order of pancakes with my directions please
Turn left at the next McDonalds, and drive straight for the next 50 metres.
@ J – you have made my day with that one.
They are just asking to have their GPS flipped off the bike while going 70mph down the highway
Hey EMS can use the spatula to clean you off the road when the GPS falls off and the guy who’s car it hits decides to take revenge. LOL
P.S. I ride too!!!
Wouldn’t it wobble to the point of unreadability as they speed down the turnpike??
No more getting lost on yer snowmobile! Could double as a scraper to clean ice off the windshield.
I love how they looped the rubber band around to hold the GPS onto the flipper!
funny thing is that is on a BMW R1200GS motorcycle, an easy $15k+ for the bike. I suppose that didn’t leave much leftover for the GPS mount.
Whatever flaps your jacks.

The cheapest thing on a BMW is the nut holing the bars.
It goes well with the front forks.
Hey at least its a Garmin.

Just follow the cooking directions…

Kinda looks like Wall-e.
I’ll bet that GPS unit is fried.

*sees additional photos* ok, i take it back. the ipod holder is similarly insane, but the bar-mounted sextant is epic.
@Beez
The photos with the sextant have had me giggling for the last few minutes! It’s like a steampunk GPS!

SPATULA CITY!!! SPATULA CITY! Hi. My name is Cy Greenbloom. I liked the spatula so much, I bought the company!
@Beez
Does using the sextant while moving affect the handling of the bike?
