  1. Pat says:

    [Insert witty comment about buying a car in Mexico.]

  2. nik says:

    I don’t see anything wrong.
    Its a BMW Jetta!

    Nice paint job as well

  3. Jim says:

    It looks almost exactly the same on the old VW Murciélago I’m driving…

  4. Neil (SM) says:

    This is more common than you’d think. In the US, too.

  5. PiddlyD says:

    Well, at least it is on a German car. Usually you see this done on something like a Honda or a Pontiac, or my favorite, a Dodge truck.

  6. notanengineer says:

    nice fake BMW… not intended LOLs inclusive!!!
    btw fitting shortcuts:
    VW = völlig wertlos (totally worthless)

    BMW = Bei Mercedes weggeschmissen (thrown away by Mercedes)

    There’s even a shortcut 4 Kawasaki, but I don’t want to translate it!! :-P

  7. Carlo says:

    Perhaps he won the BMW logo in a collision. If he smacked into a Rolls Royce, he’d have a hood ornament too.

  8. Dru says:

    This is the top of the line BMW that you get in Mexico. I mean really what’s the difference between BMW, Audi, Porsche and VW.. nothing but the name… I mean at the end of the day they all do the hiel hilter, damn Nazi cars. BMW doesn’t even try to hide it with that Nazi propeller symbol as their logo, they really didn’t do much except color the inside of it silver and blue to hide the swastika.

  9. erak says:

    PiddlyD :Well, at least it is on a German car. Usually you see this done on something like a Honda or a Pontiac, or my favorite, a Dodge truck.

    Yup, I put one on my friend’s ’88 Civic hatchback. We called it the Axis mobile.

  10. ANdy says:

    Wait, if I’m understanding this correctly, BMW doesn’t make a Jetta?!? Man, I just KNEW there was something fishy about that used car salesman! And to think I thought I was getting a good deal…

  11. Paddy says:

    Volkswagen: Vicious On Lungs, Keeps Smoking While Adding General Engine Noise.

  12. Paddy says:

    Upon closer inspection, it looks like someone forced the trunk open – you can see the crease under the BMW logo. Maybe the lock is gone, so they used the BMW logo to cover up the hole.

  13. Kyle says:

    The BMW symbol isn’t meant to make people think it’s a BMW, it’s just a signal to attract B.ig M.exican W.omen.

  14. schuehsch says:

    #fail ;) (impressing this lady)

  15. dono1 says:

    Maybe it’s a theft deterrent and it’s actually a Jetta logo on a really crappy BMW.

  16. mr.x says:

    Unfortunately, I’ve seen worse :(

  17. hepworth says:

    You know, I was going to try to make some witty comment, because I love this site. And it’s true, I love it, this is my kind of effort — minimal. But I’m also hoping you’ll click through to my blog. Because, I’m a tool.

  18. mort says:

    introducing the new jetta bmw. built ford tough and available at your local lexus dealer. with professional audi service provided by gm certifed technicians.

  19. Nick says:

    The Mexican plates are a nice touch.

  20. Demetrius says:

    Maybe he’s slowly replacing his Jetta with BMW parts. In another 10 years the transformation will be complete! (They all laughed at him at the Academy. LAUGHED!!! Who’s laughing NOW? MwaaHaHaaaa!!!)

  21. Luetti says:

    what, you cant take BMW and VW on the same level … audi, mercedes and porsche is ok but not VW its like a ford in the US bmw is like kind of cammaro or linkeln there are so many qualitativer unterschied in the autos. the translation for bmw means Bayerns mächtigste waffe (bavarians most powerful weapon) maybe brat mit wurst or busen müssen wackeln ( titts must shake ) nevermind, it´s still a really good car anyone want to buy a 320i from 1991? i want to sell mine for 2.300 €uro , a little rust but the mechanic is absolutly ok

  22. Dan says:

    So this is what they do with the cars in the “cash for clunkers” program.

    Recycle repackage and call it better mark up the price and there ya go….Oh wait, this isn’t a new concept is it, oh well had to try.

  23. Dave says:

    I have a “vintage” Tercel, and now I’m inspired to do the same. VW or BMW, it’s all an upgrade.

  24. coletteg says:

    Nick … It has Mexican tag because pic was taken in Mexio! :)

  25. gzuckier says:

    you think that’s funny, i keep seeing rolls royce badges on bmws. (http://www.usautoparts.net/bmw/models/new/rr.htm if you don’t get it)

  26. Hates Photoshop says:

    My hubby drives a 1989 Volvo with 350K on it. Still runs but coughs and wheezes down the road. Ya think this will work for a maroon Volvo.

  27. mista replya iz on fiya says:

    Mario says! MEEEEXICO! MAAAARIO!

  28. Paddy says:

    As an owner of a maroon 1989 maroon Volvo, I can safely say that yes, a BMW badge will fix it right up.

  29. maurice says:

    I cut myself shaving this morning. BMW badge fixed it right up

  30. Mr. Poopy says:

    BMVW

  31. dono1 says:

    It would’ve been less obvious if they hadn’t stuck those white arrows on the trunk.
    What? Oh. Never mind.

  32. notanengineer says:

    Dru :
    This is the top of the line BMW that you get in Mexico. I mean really what’s the difference between BMW, Audi, Porsche and VW.. nothing but the name… I mean at the end of the day they all do the hiel hilter, damn Nazi cars. Hey are U about 60 years out of date?? 4 GOD’S SAKE the Nazi period is over PERIOD!!! btw the BMW logo is inspired by heraldics … so please STFU and try to use your brain (coz even Pinky is even cleverer than U!!)…. so sad… so plz use wikipedia instead of spamming (or flaming) this tread …
    P.S.: I am a german citizen AND I know how democracy and elections work coz I actually voted (and will vote).
    So, besides this plz answer this little question: WHY did the VW T1 become the symbol of the hippie era? coz it was a nazi car?? definitely NOT! geez….

  33. dono1 says:

    @Notanengine & Dru:
    Correction: The BMW logo was actually inspired by the Rapp Motorenwerke company’s circular logo and the blue & white colors of the Bavarian flag… and was created way back in 1917. According to BMW, the logo represents the movement of an aircraft propeller (white blades cutting through blue sky), in tribute to their roots as an aircraft engine manufacturer.

  34. dono1 says:

    New company slogan:
    “BMW- The Ultimate Farfegnugen Machine”

  35. Paddy says:

    Dono1: Comedian AND historian! We salute you, sir!

  36. Kinsak says:

    In Mexico we call this people “Pinches nacos”

  37. Moñoñongo says:

    Also we call them “Jalisquillos”….

  38. The Cat says:

    Actually, this is something I’d like to do with a car. They’ve just done it wrong. Different logo on every side, just to see the reactions. Hehehe.

  39. ted says:

    @Dru
    i think someone drank their troll juice a little too quickly at morning break and needs to lie down for a bit before storytime

  40. ted says:

    @notanengineer
    I think the hippies could care less about the machine’s origins, it was just a cheap vehicle that meant they could travel around the festivals and communes without having to pay much for gas or accomodation, with a nice low top speed that meant they weren’t in much danger of crashing while stoned, and a rock solid air cooled engine and integrated gearbox that clattered and stank but allowed them to be super lazy with maintenance.

    The VW Type 1 (the van’s type 2, eh?) is also a hippie icon and that’s DEFINITELY a Nazi car. Sorry. It almost became a British one at the end of the war but we wouldn’t touch it because of the political connections and because it was so awful.

  41. Hayuata says:

    You know germans make good stuff.

  42. Poopstar Serenade says:

    @Hayuata
    Except Volkswagens

  43. Korbl says:

    makes me think of the song “One piece at a time,” except apparently this person got jobs at several factories…

  44. NotForGirls says:

    ted :@notanengineerI think the hippies could care less about the machine’s origins, it was just a cheap vehicle that meant they could travel around the festivals and communes without having to pay much for gas or accomodation, with a nice low top speed that meant they weren’t in much danger of crashing while stoned, and a rock solid air cooled engine and integrated gearbox that clattered and stank but allowed them to be super lazy with maintenance.

    Best comment ever!

  45. Matt says:

    Yeah I don’t see anything different with this than all the losers who put Cobra or GT emblems on their 4-cyl mustangs or the loser ricers who put Type R badges on their compacts.

  46. reddog says:

    duech wevella and farfegnugen are the same company .lots of there parts are interchangeable

  47. Dames says:

    Reminds me of my first car 2 cars – the Chevy Monza-rati and the Toy-Audi (complete with Audi grill taken from the scene of an accident). And I’m actually serious.

  48. Emma says:

    @notanengineer
    Thank you! I was just about to yell at him for the same exact reason! Amen to you, sir!

  49. notanengineer says:

    @Emma
    Thank you! :-D I was just over-the-top angry cause clichés mixed with stupidity make me just mad like hell… :-P

    btw @ted: please notice that the VW T1 was developed after WW2… I dislike insulting people, but why do I believe that somebody (not me!!) will be able to call a Trabant a “nazi car” (the Trabant P90 was made in the zone occupated by the soviets, the later GDR!!!) X-(

  50. TEXAS says:

    there is a BMW jetta,.. it’s the same company. tho prob not this one.

  51. isler says:

    I have 2 in my garage!!!

  52. Tom says:

    @Dru

    You don’t know your head from your arse…

    The white/blue of the roundel represents the flag of the free state of Bavaria. You should know what you’re talking about before you go spouting BS.

  53. Jazzy says:

    @Dru You’re an idiot. BMW isn’t a “nazi car”. Maybe you should do some research before you start spouting your personal opinions. Idiot.

  54. greg says:

    @TOM: Actually the blue and white symbolize the rotor of an airplane engine, as BMW got their start pre-WWII building aircraft engines, eventually built motorcycles, then built cars. You should know what you’re talking about before you go spouting BS.

  55. Steve says:

    @Gred: That’s a backwards interpretation. They put that out for marketing in the 1920′s, the original logo is from the company they came out of, combined with the bavarian flag.
    You should know what you’re talking about before you go spouting BS. Or at least, you know, google it.

  56. Gabriel V. says:

    HA! Had to be mexican… (No offense, I am mexican anyway, hehe) Actually these kind of ‘upgrades’ are really common here in Mexico!

  68. Albert C says:

    It would be funny if that Jetta had a BMW logo on the back, and a Mercedes Benz hood ornament at the same time!
