Actually, I stayed at a motel that had this problem too. Only thing is, at this motel, they nailed the cut-out to the doorframe, so that there was no big hole in the door when it’s closed, and still cleared the door

I once stayed in quite a nice hotel that had a room that was positioned in such a way that the bed blocked the bathroom door from closing. At least this place tried to do something about it. Albeit not very successfully.

The cutout isn’t meant to match the shape of the toiler- what you can’t see is that when the door is swung back it perfectly meshes with the back of the TV set.

I stayed in a motel once that had a setup like this. The door opened outward, and it was just as well, because my knees hit the door if I used the toilet with the door closed

My ex’s law office bathroom door, right off the reception room, after he had a replacement toilet bowl put in. Oops! Class-eeeee.
