It's a legitimate way of repairing bumper bars to their original finish. First you drill holes and thread through the zip ties, then you use a special plastic welding stick and a heat gun to fill in the cracks, remove the zip ties and fill the holes, and then sand the whole thing back. You can then paint it to the original colour. My dad is a panel repairer for a rally car team and repaired my van's bumper after i hit a kangaroo

This is the approved method for bumper repairs in municipalities all over the country. When a Crown Victoria blasts a U-ey through a rough or steeply banked median to go after a speeder, the rear bumper cover generally tears in two places. Zip tires are threaded through as stitches to keep the bumper cover in one piece.

Not only is the zip tie the solution to the problem, but it is also the preventative. There are a few holes on the bottom lip of a Crown Victoria bumper. There are metal supports just above them closer to the base of the trunk floor. You can zip tie the bumper up to those and prevent median U-turn tears that way. It is called a "tuck"

<a href="#comment-3732" rel="nofollow">@nick </a>
exactly what I was thinking, I have seen hundreds of drift cars with zipties holding on body parts let alone just holding then together. Only problem is that it looks like that emblem says "escort"
