    that doesnt look good!

  2. Badgirl says:

    Death wish??

  3. QuickFix says:

How dumb is this guy, anyway?

  4. Robert says:

    * SQUISH!!! *

I see the rock is “holding” the tire in place so the tire won’t slip.
The two wooden slats aren’t braced. Again, if the pole slips, * SQUISH *

  5. off911 says:

    Safety first…

  6. off911 says:

I wouldn’t even be surprised if he was welding fuel lines…

  7. salmon says:

Actually, if you take a closer look, the “poles” extruding is not on the ground. Look at the shadow. It’s not even in place with the pole.

Also, the angle of the car seems to suggest that it is leaning against the wooden pole to the right of it, in the background. It might also be braced with metal wirings behind the truck It seems to me that the the “repair man” is someone who is trying to make something funny. Either that or a very “fail” photoshop manip.

  8. dono1 says:

This may be an ignorant question but how would you get the truck that far up in the air to put those wood “braces” (and I use that term loosely) in place? And how do you get it down- kick them out of the way and stand back?

  9. x says:

The title is incorrect. It should read “Funeral in 3..2..1..” @dono1: In Soviet Russia, everything is possible… ;)

  10. mew4ever23 says:

Oh my god.. Dude definitely has a death wish.

  11. FallenAngel says:

    an emo?

  12. jim har says:

how many guys does it take to lift a truck to a 45 degree angle?

  13. cswilson says:

    jim har :
how many guys does it take to lift a truck to a 45 degree angle?

not many.. i remember in college 6 of us were able to do stick a S10 ontop of a picnic table(had 3″ tube steel frame) by having 5 of us lift up the one side to 30-40 degrees then having the last guy put the table in place on and angle. took a bit of pushing and shoving to get it square on the table after we let it down

  14. syxx says:

If you look closely, I believe he is welding the gas tank as well…

  15. Guido says:

Fake or not, this picture gives my nuts the squeems. I tend to think it’s real. Resourcefulness is innate, but physics is learned. This man has one but lacks the other (although, he may have surmised that, with most of the vehicle weight on the right tires, the posts would have to do very little except maintain the balance point. The problem is, the truck is NOT at the balance point, and he doesn’t seem to have done anything to ensure that the posts will stay put!).

Equally, or possibly more, deadly is putting cars up on decorative cinder blocks, which I’ve seen too many times.

  16. J says:

Looks like everyday life in downtown Port-au-Prince to me. Those Haitian mechanics are amazing — can do a lot with very little (including few jacks). An imaginative NGO did build a few open-air inspection ramps, but wooden props are the norm.

  17. Name Required says:

    Top Darwin award contenter!

  18. Plake says:

Looks like another Darwin award winner.

  19. GrayParticles says:

This picture has been floating around the internet for ages.

    You have bad depth perception.

  22. That Guy says:

Don’t worry – Salmon is just here to prove the internet adage “If you post it, at least one person will say it’s fake, no matter what the content is”.

  23. Valkyrie says:

This scares me. A friend of mine lost her teenage son when a jeep he was working on fell on him, and it was jacked up with a normal jack.

  24. Kinsak says:

    @syxx
    I agree with you

    Squish!!!
    Kabooom!!!

  25. David Moisan says:

If the camera angle is what I think it is, one of the supports is directly behind the guy welding. If he leans back…

  26. Jem says:

Can’t tell for sure if it’s touching the wall behind it, but that’s not important as if you look at the true angle relative to the bottom of his pant leg as the true of the ground it’s not but about 30 to 35 degrees. It means that most of the weight of the left side IS being supported by the two 2×4′s! And to make it worse, after looking at it in photoshop I think he is actually working on the front of the spring mount! So first he gets squashed by the truck when the hot spring mount shifts, then the torch burns a hole in the gas tank causing the truck to be launched in the air while burning 70-80% of his body, and for the grand finale the now flaming truck lands back on top of him for a second time! I think he’s using the ACME repair manual.

  27. schaerer says:

ah come one! He did put a stone behind the back wheel! So what’s the prob?!

  28. wolf359 says:

It looks scary but wood digs into asphalt pretty solidly. That truck probably isn’t going anywhere. Still, you wouldn’t catch me doing that.

  29. Marc in Chicago says:

It’s very magnanimous of this site to assume that the man under the truck can afford insurance — car or life!

  30. jim har says:

how many pollacks does it take to lift a truck? and who is the guy trusting enough to put in the wood supports?

  31. Rocky says:

Your site is so cool. I think you made that subscription options with your bare hands, am I right? More power to your blog.

  32. Customer: “Is my truck ready yet?”

Owner: “Yeah! Just about. Got my best buy on it right now. Working on it out back.”

  33. Hypernaut says:

This dude definitely applies for Darwin Award :D

  34. YomomsB says:

    @x
    *life insurance claim in 3….2….1…

  35. anon says:

I think what everyone is missing is the fact that he is using an arc welder right next to the gas tank…

  36. Thomas says:

    Ooooold picture.

  37. Alan says:

    That is a nice truck.

  38. pinky girl says:

wierd hes is under the car and its leaning how is that possible + its leaning on woood impossible well i think!?

  39. Wazzawiseone says:

    @Jem

I like your style, is it called lateral thinking?

    LOL

    Cheers

  40. jimbo says:

ummm he’s welding on the……GAS TANK!!!!

  41. Paul R. says:

Oooh, piece of candy! Oooh, piece of candy! Oooh, piece of candy!

  42. Dawn says:
