“street legal” on a turn signal, clearance lamp? Where’s the problem? It’s visible, protected from the weather, and a LOT cheaper than a “proper” fix. The person who did this is no fool.
I saw the same idea, but done better on the EnglishRussia Blog. The bottom of a popular brand of pickle jar ( if I recall correctly ) fits either the tail light or headlight of the the mostpopular Soviet era car – and is less likely to crack in the weather extremes that makes the real part liable to need replaced.
We new a guy (Doug) at FoMoCo Ypsilanti (MI) plant that did something very similar to this. He had an old Chevy Celebrity that had some pretty bad front end dammage. It took a replacement sealed beam headlight, still in the box and duct-taped it in place. Unbelievable!!!
There is no way that is street legal…
Turn signal!
looks like a turn signal to me. Reminds me of my custom headlight. I’ll have to e-mail it in for you guys.
Needs foil in the back.

@ dono1…
Fantastic.
Genious!
@ Waldobaby
In most states (in the US), a lamp assembly is required to be reflective, not just light up, in order to be DOT legal.
@Waldobaby
I can guarantee that car would not pass inspection
Maybe he has the reflective material on the lid :O
Glass jar, plumber’s strap, zip ties and a hose clamp. I guess this is not intended to be a temporary fix.
