Some of the ‘temporary’ fixes I know of have been there long before I moved to the area, so at least 4 years.

Yeah, unfortunately, “short-term” appears to be rather subjective. There’s a fix like this in Cleveland Heights, Ohio (Cedar/Fairmount for those who know), someone cratered a pole on a corner, it’s been that way for about a year. No idea when they’ll bother to replace it; I guess the cities can now beg “economic conditions”, all while upping our taxes to compensate.
