Tow Ladder

I particularly like the tiny set of wheels on the back of the ladder; presumably to keep sparks from coming off the road.

  1. Crispy says:

Since he’s towing using a bicycle, the wheels would be a logical way of reducing friction without adding a lot of weight. Also, aluminum doesn’t spark. It appears that he’s a window washer, given the ladder and bucket. This getup seems to be a smart way to get to jobs and not have to hassle with parking a truck. Negotiating turns might be tricky, though, with a long “trailer”.

  2. willa says:

I SWEAR to you, I also saw this guy!!!

But WAY far from this place, he was near the Olympic Stadium in Rosemont, on Bourbonnière street. I was coming back from the office and I saw this guy having troubles with the left wheel of his ”thing”. He was swearing and screaming at it.

When I say this picture, I was like, come on I saw a man doing the same thing, then realized it was shot on Ste Cath street in Mtl hahaha

  3. gzuckier says:

    it’s a fire truck.

  4. jansensan says:

nice! he added wheels! for the longest time you would hear him stroll on ste-catherine from two blocks away, his ladder scrapping the street

  5. Fireman says:

    gzuckier, don’t laugh!

I work for the Montreal FD and if they could get away with it, they’d take our ladder trucks away and do that to save a buck…

(heck they already “temporarely” close 6 stations per day every day to save a buck…)

  6. Jim says:

Crispy is right about aluminum being non-sparking. That’s why the nozzles on gas pumps are made of it.

  7. John says:

The real advantage is the angle of the drag. In the likely event of an approaching car not seeing the ladder, the ‘ramp’ effect will launch the car over the bicyclist’s head, preventing injury!
The bucket for carrying personal effects is a nice touch.

  8. P. says:

    @willa
I see this guy almost everyday, but I have no idea what he does, he passes by Le Plateau all the time.

  9. noahtron says:

i’ve seen this guy. he rakes his ladder along the sides of cars as he goes. i also saw him try to pull up a manhole cover with his bare hands.

  10. Joseph says:

This is what happens when a painter gets a DUI and loses his license. Probably doesn’t corner too quickly.

  11. tb says:

that’s pretty much the standard way for window washers in montreal to travel from building to building

  12. Mike W says:

THis guy cleaned my windows last summer!! same ladder on a bike

  13. mark says:

@John the bucket is the kicker that sends the car up!

  14. Robin says:

The guy fell really, really bad. Since no ambulance could fit him in, he had to pedal all the way down to the ER to have the latter removed.

  15. Robin says:

au stupid me *ladder i mean.
Anyway can you imagine the pain! The legs where killing him having to pedal the whole way over there standing up! The picture was taken on one of numerous breaks.

  16. Haley says:

“CAUTION: This vehicle makes wide turns”

  17. Dave says:

    Volunteer fire dept.

  18. Rich says:

This is what the economy has done to this towns fire department.

  19. David says:

I’ve always liked the “lolcats” Page Better, But this is inspireing to this WHOLE page…

  20. boris says:

    it’s not a ladder, it’s a wheelie-bar

  21. Spinny says:

I can’t quite see who the royalty is in the bucket seat…
