Hmmm – I’ve never seen the equivalent in Phoenix. As a transportation engineer in training…. this gives me chills! And as a member of the green generation, I can’t help but wonder if there’s more trash on the sidewalk now that the trash can has been moved
Yeah, double checking on GoogleMaps street view, that is definitely the corner of Mulberry and Prince. You can see the pattern of whiter, newly replaced mortar a couple feet up on the brick wall, you can see how the metal on the curb and the cut-out for the wheelchair ramp matches, the details of the lampost match. Anyway, it’s mostly the brick wall that confirms it, like a fingerprint. I used to live a half block away, walked by there every day, and I was pretty sure I recognized it right away.
This is a pretty much everyday sight where I live (Guadalajara, Mexico). Although the cone is substantially more visible than most of the things that get used here — old mops, tree branches, broken furniture, tires…
A friend in NYC says he once had to drive around a full-sized refrigerator sticking out of a pothole. But it was just barely sticking out. That kind of pothole could swallow a smartcar!
I’m pretty sure this is right down the street from my house. Was this photo taken in Bushwick / Williamsburg Brooklyn?
Up…..s!
In the middle of the street. How danger it is!
Local gov. should doing an action!
It must be the normal way to mark a pothole.. I was gonna ask if it was in Ft. Greene.
Suddenly sinkholes!
Holey city streets, Batman!
Looks like one of the many I’ve seen in Manhattan…
I sure love having my tax dollars paying for their coffee breaks and donuts…

Who knows, this could be a new kind of homeless shelter. For one, of course.
This is a fix in NYC.
What? You would rather see a car drive into our 19th cent. infrastructure?
Poor poor Dalek.
I think that may actually be the corner of Mulberry and Prince, in Nolita. That looks like the brick wall that surrounds St. Patricks Cathedral.

…and the white van on Prince (streetview) is just about to run over where the hole’s at…
The more I see it, the more I imagine that the Travelocity Travel Gnome will pop out from the hole…
“Don’t forget your hat!!!”
Typical for NYC streets. I’ve seen that too many times. Are people in NY still getting electrocuted when they step on those metal construction plates?

As silly as it may seen, this is definitely a community effort in places around the world. I’ve seen this even in Washington, DC.
L4D before the Survival pack.
Hahahaha, I really thought this Orchard & Delancey for a second.

They do this everywhere in New York, better than running over those giant potholes.
(No it isn’t a manhole).
Maybe a black hole the way it’s obviously sucking everything in…
I’ve seen these kind of set ups in Chicago many times.
Another NYC pothole is born!
