I’m pretty sure this would not pass standard building codes. O_o

  2. Teh_Juggernaut says:

It may not pass building codes, but it’s a pretty ingenious pressure valve though! Just think, if the pressure gets high enough the rubber ball compresses and out comes the water or air or whatever runs through that pipe.

  3. zxcvb says:

This is like Macgyver if he got fired and became a delinquent landlord.

“Come on, Mac! You said you’d fix my pipes last week.”
“Alright, alright! I’ll do it! Just give me a rubber chew toy, a C-clamp, and an old coathanger.”
    “…?”

  4. Person says:

I really enjoyed just looking at this one and figuring out how it works.

  5. ksgirl says:

    scary.

  6. Good thing he added the sharp wire to prevent the dog from reclaiming its toy.

  7. I’ve seen worse, but this is pretty bad. I’m thinking his plumber took this pic when they finally called him to fix it right.

  8. heywood says:

    not MacGyver, MacGruber!

  9. CAden says:

    just buy some new pipe

  10. Jon says:

I moved into a rental home that had a drain pipe fixed this way. The kitchen sink and dishwasher drained through it. The pipe was hanging from the ceiling in the cellar by clothes hangars and a previous t-joint had been plugged with a racquetball and duct tape. Hey, anybody ever noticed that duct tape loses strength over time? The mess under that “fix” was just nasty. I knew I’d only be there for 3 months, though, so I just ignored it.
