  1. omg says:

how did they get it the hole?

btw thats not what she said :P

  2. Neurotarkus says:

I want one of these. Badly.

  3. Rob says:

So the thin metal roof of the bus is supposed to protect those inside from a fallout?

  4. Golux says:

Umm… Storm Cellar? Not supposed to protect you from fallout, but it gets you below the surface so flying debris won’t shred you, and the house doesn’t cave in on you when it collapses into the basement.

  5. Jeff says:

These are used frequently in rural areas as marijuana grow-ops.

  6. Juan A. says:

Isn’t this what the Branch Davidians in Waco used as an ammo and food depot?

  7. Steph says:

How do you keep the rain out? Seems to me that white entrance area would fill up with water (and mud) when it rains.

  8. Ben says:

    @Steph
it would, but then you’d be in relative safety from a huge storm, having only to suffer from very muddy feet. sounds like a good deal to me!

  9. Jennifer says:

creepy … reminds me of a kidnapping attempt …

  10. RijS says:

They’ll never bomb a school bus, right?
Nice cover, tough i don’t like the idea..
If this works out well, maybe the next world war will be fought with ice cream vans shooting grenade shells out of the cherry.

  11. DeathByGrogg says:

It would work alot better if they buried it a few feet down, instead of going with that half-ass job.

  12. timebinder says:

Sorry, kiddies, but this will be our last field trip.

  13. QuickFix says:

The solution for all those foreclosure refugees.

  14. Al_Timiter says:

They couldn’t afford a family burial plot…so THIS is what they came up with (must be a large family).

  15. TR says:

It’s like a bus basement. I hope it’s called “The Busment”

  16. memyselfandmoimoimoi says:

    @Neurotarkus
    Agreed.

  17. The kids inside are now fully grown and have taken jobs as miners.

  18. carlos says:

almost didnt realize the bus was there as it camouflages nicely with the dry grass..

  19. Alli says:

This reminds me of a book called “The Beetle’s Cellar” that was probably based off of the Chowchilla kidnapping. The victims stayed in a buried school bus…

  20. kage says:

this isnt really funny because its a legitimate storm shelter and is done more often then you would think, sure its not pretty but it does get the job done. also one of the largest publicly owned nuclear fallout/bomb shelters is made up of like 50 busses or something buried and paved over with re-enforced concrete. so … win

    • Jamie says:

I think the one your talking about is in Canada. It looked like more than 50 busses. That guy had it engineered with concrete reinforcemnt. Google the ark 2. We may all wish we had a chance as simple as a buried school bus one day. Not a bad idea. I guess the one hoe lives longest is the winner.

  21. Sam says:

    WHY?!?!

  22. Me says:

Win. If there is a ramp at the front of that thing, they can use it to flee from zombies after the bomb goes off.

  23. Fay says:

    @Neurotarkus
Me too. So, so much. I NEED one of those.

  24. Laxminarayan Kamath says:

“We *will* take you to school”

  25. Xgencoolio says:

Thats actully a pretty good idea if there is food AND water in it.

  26. J says:

Man, I don’t even WANT to see the principal’s facial expression when they find out where Room 101 went for their field trip.

  27. Lapis Kelinia says:

Hate to say it, but it’s pretty normal. We have one buried on our property from the previous owners. It took a long time, but eventually the roof of the bus collapsed, leaving a significant dip in our driveway. I’m told that the people who lived there before (several befores, I believe) used it both as a root cellar and as a tornado shelter.

Apparently people can buy an old school bus really cheaply, and digging a hole (and ramp too the hole, obviously) and reburying it is significantly cheaper than making a new shelter with new support beams.

  28. ticouncouatl says:

just strenghten the structure, pour concrete on it and that could be an effective bomb shelter

  29. dono1 says:

I like how the word “School” is painted over. Wouldn’t want some kids to get on by mistake.

  30. Kaylee says:

    @dono1
And yet the word “bus” is not, like it’s still gonna go somewhere someday.

  31. aeri says:

hmmm 2 words, bus and stop….. r they TRYING to confuse the kids or is it really just a pedophile’s attempt at trapping kids…. one has to wonder…

  32. Bryonia says:

This reminds me of David Koresh and the Waco siege. :(

  33. Ratatosk says:

if it was a fallout shelter…this would be the most redneck thing ive ever seen

  34. Brittany says:

That is so cool!!! I want one too!!!! LOL But seriously…. How did they get it in the hole???

  35. Vincent says:

    wow, think of the posibilities
    a cinema, a party van…

  36. luke says:

the B in “bus” is faded, so that it looks like a G.
As in, “Gus, Stop. You’re destroying our family!”

  37. SG says:

My mom’s uncle ran a junkyard for a long time. When he quit & cleared off the property, he kept a school bus & did this as a tornado shelter (Wichita Falls, TX, nuff said!). It had earth on top too, and he made vents with PVC piping for fresh air, put in camping lamps & some canned food/water, and a couple cots, chairs & a table. It was pretty cool, and very effective. Basements in Texas aren’t very feasible.

  38. Anna says:

“School” is painted over because a lot of districts will do so when they get rid of their buses and sell to the general public. Kind of like how they strip the badges off of police cars and remove the word “ambulance” from emergency vehicles being sold.

  39. herds789 says:

Drove that one into the ground.

  40. Jeremy says:

In one episode of Penn & Teller BS, I think it was about survivalists, they torued a huge underground complex some loon made with dozens of buses. It was pretty impressive, I mean, for a bunch of buried buses.

  41. Jamie says:

I intend to bury a bus and reinforce it as well as incorporate ventilation and drainage.
I’m researching the idea, and I hope all these jokers on here have a better plan for when something happens. If not I’m sure they’ll be missed….

  42. Jamie says:

    Very interested
