    I wanna see how they fixed the towbar to the boat.

  2. 12-42 says:

    lol @ the tiny outboard motor on the back – that thing must weigh about as much as a small car…

  3. Rob says:

    Hard to believe that that thing can actually move on the water, and not just sink.

  4. Sleepydog says:

    They did a prety good job:
    It floats above water, so they used enough 55 gallon drums or soda bottles. And it’s level.
    I hope the person steering that outboard can see what’s in front of that boat. I’m sure they figured something out.

  5. Jojo says:

    As opposed to a non-redneck houseboat?

    I think the deck — replete with a home office and Batsheba-on-the-roof tub — makes this a real standout among hillbilly houseboats.

    Well played. I’d take it on the lake any day. And I’m only half hillbilly.

    redneck houseboat is redundant

  15. BeachGirl says:

    I think this is awesome! I love the fact that he has to have the curtains open at both ends to see where he is going. Redneck ingenuity rocks.

  16. Jonathan says:

    I think this is from a group of self-styled “river punks” who were featured in an article in Harper’s Magazine. Evidently, they tried to go down the Mississippi on this.

  17. travis says:

    LOL rednecks are like todays macgyver

  18. DaJuice says:

    @brink
    Then get knocked out by a hurricane easy. That can’t stand up to sea waves.

  19. What Haveyou says:

    “replete with a home office and Batsheba-on-the-roof tub”

    You do realize that “replete” doesn’t mean “complete”, right?

  20. Kurt says:

    @Jojo

    Search for some newer luxury houseboats… they can cost several million dollars and be more luxurious than even the Presidential suite at the Ritz.

  21. haha. These are acctually my friends, they are the best! One of the guys acctually build those floating rafts that the campervan is placed upon. They went on a well known canaltour in sweden kalled Göta Kanal.
    I posted the link to their traveldiary homepage, there are more pics there and text about their trip. They usually spend their time doing a lot of adventures, one of them is a kitesurfinginstructor that studies medicin and went to live on a deserted island somewhere in mikronesia, another one is a photograper who went on a hot air ballon trip over sri lanka rainforest doing some filming, and the other guy just drove off to south africa one day.

  22. anus says:

  36. Fredric Öslöf says:

    @nukemdomis
    They got it sold after that trip actually, this picture is from some years ago. They figured in all of the big swedish newspapers that summer, everyone who meet them was amazed that it even could float.
