string is commonly used by luthiers to hold binding around the edges of the instrument while the cement dries. I guess this is only funny if you don’t know about guitar repair…
Chris is right, the guitar’s actually in the midst of being fixed. Masking tape is also used, but string has been used in this case due to the guitar’s laquer finish.

I’m a Luthier and this is how it’s done. Over time the glue fails. Too much heat, not enough humidity, or just dropping it. There’s more damage to be fixed, but you do it in stages
You’re right. I have glued other fine objects with string tension, though never a guitar. It’s all observation and patience. You have to secure certain points till they’re dry.
RE: Kevin
Very true… my father is a luthier and teaches me when I help out (He prefers restoring vintages pieces), and this looks pretty familiar…
The real TIFI (ThereIFixedIt) is the obvious signs that someone previously tried to tape the guitar together….
It’s holding the guitar together while some sort of glue dries on it. How is this an alternative, amusing “Fix-It”?
Sir, you are absolutely right.
She is, but thinking about it as the latest kink in Japanese rope bondage is a lot more entertaining.

mine was fixed like this long before it was handed down to me. it’s older than i am and it’s truer than some newer guitars i have owned or tuned.
Looks like it’s been on a Highway to Hell.
Rescued from a ‘Who’ concert?
Won’t play – it’s missing a few strings.
I guess the guitar player didn’t get the hint to stop playing.
After painstakingly piecing it all together after the show, Gordon suddenly realized that Townshend played an electric guitar.
Wow…should REALLY meet girls easy – he plays a 21-string GEE-tahr!
Hey, I fixed a guitar like that once, and a ukulele, too!
@DeathByGrogg
The point they were making above, Grogg, was that there were no dumb people involved in the above photo.
big fail… this is what luthiers do when fixing a guitar…
yep. srsly, this should be taken down since it’s THE way to fix or build a guitar.
Yeah,I fix guitars occasionally, too….but it’s still funny.
Isn’t this the guitar from Animal House?

acoustic version of Eddie Van Halen guitar
FREEEEEEEEBIRD!
Since there are two strings on this gutar, you can still playing RAMONES.
No Stairway…. Denied!
Is this what is meant by: “restringing a guitar?
If your gonna go with the big “smash the guitar” ending you’ve got to think ahead.
The guitar may be a piece of sh*t, but it deserves more dignity than this.
Suddenly I realized, that those who smash their guitars on stage get new ones…. DAMMIT *grabs tape and rope*.
